DJ's that don't produce

Post by laurent__duval » Wed Sep 02, 2009 12:17 am

just wondered what the general thought was on DJ's that don't produce. i cant really, i've got rhythm but i cant write the stuff. personally i think it'll stop me from ever getting anywhere.
also can anyone think of any DJ's that don't produce?

^ Amazing DJs

I think Jackmaster doesn't produce.. he's one of the sickest Djs out there!
Conspira are heavy aswell!
IMO it's more about playing diverse stuff and coming up with fresh styles, if you play the same tunes like everyone else you won't go anywhere..
Also if you want to get noticed try getting a radio show, put nights, etc...

yeah i've emailed this guy who was asking for DJ's on the forum earlier today so that would be good. but i do agree that diversity is the key. still a lot of the big names that i've seen about recently are playing pretty much the same sets just mixed up a bit. not naming any names though. don't wanna offend anyone.

comment above so true.

unless you have some crazy talent, most good dj's must understand and respect good production and select those tracks more than not, in a way isnt dj'ing live production?

strictly speaking yes. but thats not what i mean. your comment about quality is also true. and i suppose the reverse is true - not all good producers are good dj's. i.e burial, though i've never heard a mix of his so i shouldnt really comment. does he ever DJ?

Two DJs walk into a cinema. One DJ says to the other, "Yo, do you want to go see Inglourious Basterds tonight at eight?" The other DJ turns to him and says, "It depends. Who's the projectionist?"
