Newbie Books on Music Technology Concepts

Post by analogheart » Wed Sep 02, 2009 8:04 pm

Hi,

I'm using Ableton and am pretty new to production although have played around with Reason a bit in the past. I'm coming from background playing bass and drumming. I basically understand 'traditional' music theory and read music/drum tab but am new to synthesis. Now I know a lot of the fun is just playing about to see what happens but I was wondering if anyone can recommend any books on synthesis..i.e I'm at the stage where I get a particular sound by chance but I'd like to know more about what an LFO does or what filters do etc (Although in newbie terms). Anyone direct me to any sites/recommend any books to get me started?
Thanks

Check section 5 in the Production Bible ---> http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=14797&start=0 called 'Books & Magazines...

Powertools for synthesiser programming will basically teach all there is to know about synthesiser controls ;) ---> http://www.amazon.co.uk/Power-Tools-Syn ... 0879307730
