Help me get started im new to dubstep

I keep seeing this all over the place, it's alright - not brilliant but for a free CD on the front of a mag it's worth it:

I thought you'd like Kromestar, he's one of my favourites because I love dub too

I don't mind the dutch, one of my best mates is dutch but she's fit, I was wondering where you went to when you vanished

How long have you been a fan for Firky? Im suprised i didnt get into this earlier, i remember hearing benga like 2 years ago and not being that impressed

it isnt the people i had a problem with, it was being surrounded by that impossible language all the time, i had to get out of there

Ohh I guess about three years now, I still lived in London so yeah about three years. Sort of discovered it by accident and I liked it but I was still convinced Jungle was better then it sort of grew on me. Benga's a grower I think, I prefer his mixes and live sets to Diary of Afro Warrior which although good sounds like something you'd hear in a trendy wine bar.

Glad somebody mentioned Bass Clef. Fuck me that Cannot Be Straightened is too nasty for most, lol. I'm more into Dub than Grime as well... check this one for really dubby sounds. Also, newer Lee Perry is good for a new take on classic Dub sound.

hahaha, i have that, i nicked it off the front of the magazine coz i had no money at the time, its not bad but i find a lot of rusko's stuff is a bit cheesy and can get a bit tiresome, bring it on and woo boost are sick tho

Look up the Dubstep Wars and Generation Bass specials from Mary Anne Hobbs' radio show. There are lots of free downloads of these around and they're ESSENTIAL. I learned more about dubstep in the two hours it took me to listen to Dubstep Wars than I did in the previous year of scrabbling around listening to tunes pretty much at random.

While you're at it, grab Kode 9's Sonar 2007 mix. It's amazing. Again, you should be able to find this easily enough online.

Splash out on one or more of the Dubstep Allstars mix CDs. Grab the first one if you can find it and want to understand the roots of the scene. Get Appleblim's latest for an idea of where things are going (ie. everywhere).

After that, follow your nose. Welcome to the exciting world of dubstep.
