Burial's Ghost Hardware was single of the week on itunes. I was in the frame of mind to download something completley new to me sound wise. Downloaded it, didnt quite understand it at first but after a few more listens got into it. Purchased the album a few days later and after listening to which, googled burial which led me to wikipedia, which led me to dubstep...

:D

"this is grade A 100% pure Columbian cocaine ladies and gentlemen, disco shit. Pure as the driven snow."

Juju mix from 06 or 07 that my friend Vent gave me. Hooked through the bag ever since. Didn't really know what was up until I saw Hatcha play at Beta in July of last year.

I've mentioned my first experience a couple of times on the forum before but here it is again.

Me and a mate were wandering through a field on acid at 3amish in thick fog, fog so thick you couldn't see your hand. He had Skream - 0800 on his phone, it sounded like the music was coming from the fog.

Been hooked on it ever since, especially once I heard dubstep with a sub.

I bought Distance-Repercussions and played it in my dad's car with the bass turned all the way up. The drop in Magnesium converted me for life.

randomly browsing through different itunes radio stations about 4-5 months ago and came upon cyba.fm playin a dubstep set. though i didnt know it was dubstep or what dubstep even was at the time. big-0 11.26.08 was the set name and all i knew was that this sound was totally my style. semi slow - laid back hip hop type beats with huge sulking bass, and trippy sounds remember caspa - wheres my money came on and at the 8ths wobble part my mouth just literally dropped open in amazement. (cuz i had not ever heard this type of sound b4, i guess i am lucky for not listening to any electronic music before dubstep as all these grimey bass sounds were new to me. another thing is in highschool i REALLY was into oldschool three six mafia. there old shit like mystic stylez and da end, kings of the underground) i really loved how dj paul the producer of all 3-6 mafia beats used really sparatic hi hats and sparatic kicks as well. i swaer i was listening to the same type of kick / snare pattern used in so many in 36 mafia tunes and dubstep tunes, YEARS before i had even heard of dubstep. and because most hip hop at the time(at least the stuff i was listening to) had the same type of beat with like 2 snares per bar, and just a constant hi hat every 2nd or 4th 16th or whatever. dj paul's beats really caught my ear.

heres an example notice the similarties with dubstep half time beats.

kinda went off there.. ill post some more examples later
