2Oh1 - amazing free track, PETITION!!!!

Post by Forensics » Fri Sep 04, 2009 5:58 pm

Two Oh One has announced his departure from the land of dubstep:

http://www.myspace.com/20h1

The first reason for me starting this thread is to let you all know that he's
giving away a truly great (and massively original) track, for a limited time.

So don't miss out :!:

The second reason is to try and encourage the release of his amazing dubstep output before he moves onto other things completely. If you've been a fan of his work then post something in this thread. Labels need to start biting his arms off, ffs! Or maybe we can twist his arm into putting out that album he was talking about. He's got at least two great album's worth of material sitting there. It's a CRIME that tracks like Ghost Train, Long Way Home & Storm haven't seen a release yet.

Show some love people :D

I'm now retired from Dubstep.
This last year, I've not really been feeling where Dubstep has been going. There are still producers out there pushing the sound in new directions, but they are the minority. People who I've respected have moved on. Now the acceptable face of the sound is swamped with identikit tracks that are just empty exercises in machismo and bedroom geezerdom. The real fire is just gone. We've been here before.
sorry, but why give up making dubstep just because ''People who I've respected have moved on''?

there's no need to throw your toys out of the dubstep pram because your favourite producers have stopped making what you consider ''fire''.

and why's mr 1 started posting on the forum again if he's just given up the genre?

no disrespect, you both make good music, but it sounds like you're attention seeking. if you think dubstep's turned shit, do something about it, don't be a pussy and just say you're leaving the genre and expect people to suddenly open the appreciation floodgates.

music is music. are you giving up making music? what's the deal?

it would be a shame to stop making tunes just because of what other people do or think. man up.

He just posted a quiet thread in the dubs forum giving away a free track, and made an announcement about his departure on myspace. What the fuck is wrong with that?

He hasn't. I'm trying to tickle the floodgates on his behalf, cos he's one of the best producers I know and he's criminally apprehensive about blowing his own trumpet.

You've made me feel like a c*nt for starting this thread now! It's not like he asked me to start one on his behalf. In fact he was making a point of 'slipping away quietly', which is what inspired me to post in the first place. All I was trying to do was show support to someone I feel genuinely deserves it....

well i wasn't exactly being negative...i think 201 should carry on making music regardless of what anybody else is doing.

i've really enjoyed some of his music. i just think its a bit silly to throw your toys out of the pram for pretty much no reason. every genre goes downhill...i'm probably half your age and i can tell you that. get over it.

surely now that "The real fire is just gone" it means there's now an opening for 201 to bring his own real fire?

i didn't intend to disrespect. i just don't see how any amount of shit music can spoil the good music.
why did you get into the genre in the first place?
the tunes you love still exist! soldier on, don't go AWOL!

It is really, you're right. Probably the best track I've had anything to do with.

one of a very small handful of producers who i regularly check for.

machine phase, synthemesc (gruesomely dark and brooding) and of course the almighty ghost train (if you dont know this one by now then just go home and dont come back)
each one a stone cold classic.

also cant forget THAT track under THAT alias
grinding electrofilth - stunning track

i still get a lovely warm fuzzy feeling when playing people ghost train for the first time and THOSE horns come in.

i think a complete 2oh1 retrospective release is in order.
like a double disc album. ill do the artwork for free as well :D

much respect mate and huge appreciation for the tunes you've slung me over the years...
