Yeah Caspa & Rusko when i saw them at Big Chill 2008 just constantly wheeled song after song and it get's fucking annoying after awhile.sam_justice wrote:On another note of rewinds, went to a chase and status set the other day and EVERY track they played they rewound, got so fucking annoying
Wheels are good but in moderation, one or two a set is fine but not every other song. It just ruins the flow of the mix.
The first 20-30 times I heard a "rewind" I just thought the DJ had messed up and it must be some modern technology glitch with Serato (I don't use Serato so I didn't know). Because when you're not ready for it, it sounds like absolute crap.
You have a nice headnod vibe going and suddenly its rudely killed by this jarring loud scratchy sound. It kind of has the same effect as the DJ that constantly talks through his set -- it detracts from the quality of the music and one's ability to enjoy it -- so whats the point of even mixing in the first place?

Thing with saying if the crowd want it, wheel it, doesn't really work cos a mosh pit of k-holers will go nuts to every tune, hence the endless rewinds.
Listen to Youngsta; he hardly ever pulls it so when he does it has more dramatic effect... less is more. They are big when its the right time, shit when its all the time.
It also sucks when a tune gets played by every DJ on the night... Saxon, Eastern Jam, When I Look, Blinded by the Lights are some culprits for this. You would have thought DJs would want to play a unique set and not just a rehash of the previous fella... oh well still love going to raves and got nothing but love for the scene and everyone in it

Thats jump up dj's for you all round tho really... take a look at jump up d n b aswell its the same kinda thing...all structured exactly the same, easy to mix and keeps the floor on that vibe for as long as they're entertained. and as long as the majority of the dancefloors feelin it, then DJ's will rinse it out like that... Imagine yourself in that situationDiRT wrote:You would have thought DJs would want to play a unique set and not just a rehash of the previous fella...
I guess theres only so many years u can go and play out to 100 people head nodding if you want the party to be 'live'. So u cant really hate on it too much when there 1000+ people vibing and theres yourself and a few others chin scratching (not that I don't do it myself). Just pop outside and chat shit about it till the next DJ comes on.
p.s. (if you don't wanna hear reloads, go to a house or techno night)

I've been thinking about this recently - for whatever reason, it seems it can take a while to get certain tracks out. I know certain people on the forum have said they'll go out of their way to not listen to tracks because they're waiting for release, which seems absolute bullshit to me. It shouldn't be the case - we shouldn't deprive ourselves of spankers because they've taken however many months to get put out.
