virtual intruments like synths, samplers, drummachines etc. U cant go wrong with fruity, get some freeware vsts, some are very decent for freeware. I'd personally go with reason, it has all u need and i like the workflow of it + plus u learn a bunch bout conecting hardware cuz of its interface.
