If you follow what is said in this forum, you will like nothing. I suggest chosing your own route.
THIS

I also think its funny that people on this site think whatever happens here is true worldwide.
This is just a forum, just a fraction of what the worldwide dubstep scene really is.
Just cause some kids are posting their first tunes in the dubs section that doesnt mean the scene is shit.
Its the biggest forum on the net for upcomming dubstep producers to get their work heard, hence why thats whats happening.

If you dont like the dubs section, dont listen to anything in it.
Just like if you dont like wobble, or dont like manstep, or dont like boring medi-step, etc, etc, etc

Its all just music, try to enjoy what you love and stop wasting time dwelling on what you hate.

Keep it positive.

cheers.

the bad bit is just the constant self promotion. These producers who have made a couple of bangers that will get pulled up, but they actually dont really have a clue and have a ego way out of proportion.

Yeh u may be able to make a novelty wobbler that some people think is ok after producing a month, but dont u want to do something more rewarding that?

Best thing that could happen to that subforum imo, would be to make a emmbeded player so people couldnt download. Meaning that all the "sick tune, 320?!" posts would go and people who want it will actually get some feedback.

i like the kind of dubstep that i like not what people tell me to like, its not a trend it's music and your personal feeling's of the music when you listen to it is completely UP TO YOU. You dont have to be like yeh thats shit or yeh thats sik just because your trying to fit in.

great idea if the forum could get an internal player or something like that....

that way it's more equal(I'm I spelling that right:p)

maybe that's something to concider?

we thought of that, but the problem when forums do it, is that it makes a hierarchy of ...these are the tunes that got the most clicks/plays today..or whatever. we don't want to do that, because as we've watched on other forums, it highlights a handful of people doing one sound, and ignores a set of other people doing another sound. the music should be mysterious, and hard to understand. not obvious, with lots of lists of people.

seckle wrote:what i find sad is that people aren't willing to accept that their tunes may be crap. they'd rather call everyone hater instead. as if everyone's going to be skream or benga straight away on their first tunes? it doesn't work like that. its pretty alarming when you have a whole lot of fragile producers out there that refuse to take a critique, but then ask to be noticed in the same breath.
I haven't really seen that tbh. It is hard to keep up these days tho. Seems like people just refrain from saying anything negative it is kind of a shame really because a little honest crit could do wonders for producers might allow them to check themselves before they get a really annoying ego going.

It is nice that you don't have to feel like a dick and ruin someones night but all this positive feedback on shite spills over into their convos on aim with labels. There you have producers on the line waiting for you answer , what u sayin m8? Not feeling it sry.

I try to steer clear of anything in the Dubs section where the title states that the track is "filthy".
2ND BASS RECORDS

the hipsters will ride out the trends like an idiot on a surfboard.. let them fuck about and they will eventually tire of our waves and they will move on to calmer waters. we need to have a heavy hand about issues concerning crap dub releases and take them seriously enough so we can keep the crap where the crap belongs.

haha i dont really try to make "un-filthy" tunes lol, i just make music that i like, and if other people enjoy then thats cool. im personally just not a fan of this "filth" style of dubstep. if other people enjoy it though, then its not my place to say that its shitty or its wrong. on another note though, i wasnt really into the jungle scene so im not an expert on this subject, but from what it sounds like the same reason why people got out of drum and bass is happening with dubstep - tunes that sacrifice musicality, space, and uniqueness for the sake of drenching the crowd in "filth" and having the "grimiest, dirtiest banger". don't get me wrong, i live for bass pressure, but only as long as it is in a right context with enough dynamics and musicality. hence why artists like mala, kryptic minds, loefah etc are so well respected. this is all just my humble opinion though. and much thanks for playing my stuff on your show! 8)

Thanks man! And the last sentence was obviously a joke for those of you who thought I was serious, i don't look to the board for approval. lol.

with that said, i sometimes do feel like a douchebag coming on this board and seeing so many people talking shit about every god damn style of dubstep there is. for fucks sake. it's music. All I care is that my head is bobbing and if I'm playing out, the crowd is bouncing, which it always is. There's two types of music in my book, good and bad. I listen to the good and I pass on the bad. It seems so many people are letting the bad consume their lives.

different strokes for different folks i suppose. personally i think 99% of the angry jump up stuff is utter shite, but people spunk their pants over it on here
This is soooo tru! it pisses me off tho, cos i understand dubsteps evolvin and blah blah blah but we all kno the difference between a well thought out n well put 2gether track, from a 2 min session on reason. it just seems to me that half the shit posted isnt dubstep, its some electro kids take on an it i.e. LFO. ah well i jus hope the deeper side of dubstep makes a bigger mark than tht SHITE!!!

I fucking hate it when people put all this shit and all the things people say on GetDarker that is along those lines. It's just really cringy and just fucking annoying.

There has seemed to be a suddenly influx over the past half a year of these people saying all these stupid things.
