Synth Production Thread

Post by naroja » Sat Sep 12, 2009 12:45 pm

Hey Guys!

I've been meaning to make this thread for a while now. I've had this idea for a new contest / submission thread. Every week a sample is chosen, and the contributors will make patches using no more than 4 synths to replicate the sample or make a remixed / new version of it.

So just like the DSF Sample Pack contest, this contest will be focused on samples, but they will also have a specific Genre / Type (ex. Creaky Door / Lion Roar / Light Flute / Deadly Mechanical Robots from Outer Space etc. etc.)

While you create your patches you should keep in mind your process, so you can share it in the forum, and show any tips / tricks & techniques of how you got there.

After you're done, include the patch & a sample of what it sounds like.
I'll be updating this first post with all the submission links to the patches & samples.

Tell me what you guys think, and any suggestions on the first Genre! :D

Glad you guys are as excited as me!

I have a few ideas to start, but I was wondering what you meant by transcending, sounds interesting.

There are two ways we can approach this, use a topic which is open ended for interpretation, or use specific samples and try to mimic them / tweak & mix them by recreating them on the synth.

I started by taking a sample of a Lion http://www.idefabrikken.com/sounds/lion.wav as a reference, and also a bird as a reference: http://www.scricciolo.com/eurosongs/Oen ... eucura.wav

I combined them together to make a lion / bird hybrid sound.

Submission should look like this:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Artist: [Naroja]
Sample of Patch "LionBird": http://www.divshare.com/download/8499957-634
Patch "LionBird" (Massive): http://www.divshare.com/download/8499958-0d4
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start by posting any ideas and/or starting patches patches for Genre's & Types to create patches for.

This first type is Animal Hybrids.
The types will be added to the first post, and anyone can contribute to any type that is posted.

I was thinking for the next one it could be something like this, a unique creaky rocking chair type sound - http://pages.globetrotter.net/bmathieu/ ... air01e.wav

P.S.

Also made this, since I'm still trying to find where my real one went haha
