Problem with macbook pro

I got a macbook pro yesterday and have found the headphone jack hole to be really loose at holding in my headphones, tried it with a jack to rca lead too and still flimsy as anything.
Anybody else had similair problems, or did I get a dud machine?

(I got it out of the macstore too so no dodgy second hand problems (I hope)

but seriously, just take it in and get a replacement, i just checked my dads mbpro and it is fine..

in relation to you buying new as apposed to recon

you would be better off the other way around

since the mac has become so massivly popular recently they are churning them out in china without as much as a second look into quality

where as a recon unit is thoroughly tested before being sold...

got the same problem!

though i use firewire for serious producing it's a pain in the ass..

i have a £580 sony vaio with blu ray,3gb ram and a banging graphics card..

This seems pretty irrelevant to me. Besides, it still runs windows, and thus you are missing out.

If you have monitors you are best off with an external audio interface (preferably firewire

). I originally started off with a mini jack to RCA cable, but its much nicer with an external soundcard. If you want something cheap, you can use something like a griffin iMic, which is still mini jack to RCA, but its out the of the so less knocks etc. Plus the mini jack socket is solid. Beyond that, get a MOTU or EMU firewire soundcard. Pricey but rock solid.

Yeah thanks for the replies people. I'm goin to take it back. I pointed a light down the jack hole and it looks like one of the clips is too small to grab on to the jack.

Regrding the audio interface, its next on my "buy for production" list
any recomendations (i was goin to go for the m-audio fast track pro)

Word on the streets is u should stay away from fast track, but I dont own one so cant really comment on that. I got a focusrite saffire le (firewire), can recommend that one. Plenty of ins and outs, awesome recording quality.

My m-audio broke in like 2 weeks... Theyre support is awful, and the authorised repair center's website has more security holes than I've ever seen in a site before (I'm looking at a list of username and passwords...)

Get a MOTU or an EMU, more money but worth it. Saffire is suitable, but if you're like me you dont need ins and outs, just something to run the monitors through.

Shouldn't be like that - I've read about this, seems to be a semi-common or batch issue with those ones, tell them you've read of other people with the same problem and you shouldn't have to be too firm to have it treated as a DOA (dead on arrival = swap it over for another new one). Easiest thing to do incase they're deadshits is compare it to one of the showroom machines to demonstrate that yours is shite.

weasel - what model is the vaio? sounds orite... anything missing a driver?

oh yeah, and +1 for avoiding the m-audio if you're remotely serious
