Was just wondering, is short circuit a better sampler than renoise... cos thinking abt it renoise rewired is a super dooper mega huge gargantic sampler, isn't it?

Renoise is capable of some amzing stuff no doubt. If you prefer using Renoise over any given sampler, then I'd say that yes, it is better than whichever sampler you're looking at.

Short Circuit is a pretty powerful sampler, especially for freeware. Ultimately, you should use whatever program you feel most comfortable with.

Reaper allows updates to be installed over existing installations. Install this, then install the latest version of reaper right over the top. When you run the installer for the latest version, it will automatically have all the options selected that you choose the previous installation.

Rar the whole Reaper folder and send it to your friend. :)

not sure about your comment on my synths to be honest...............

i think perhaps you should try them in your productions??

they are made to have a small cpu load so they shudnt be a problem in even the shittiest pc

its up to you whether you want to include them in your pack but if people are lookin for some good free vsts goto

First up, I'd recommend aquainting yourself with its controls. Click on the red spider and then on arachnid.pdf to view the manual.

Next up, check that start position is at 0.

Also check the volume ADSR (in the top righthand corner) has the following settings: Attack 0, Decay 10, Sustain 0, Release 10.

Finally, check you haven't muted the channel the vst is on, and that the samplers outputs are going to that channel. (they should be by default when you create a new channel and insert the vst as a plugin)

Hope that solves the problem! If not, buy Poise Drum sampler instead! ---> http://www.anothersmallclue.com/poise.php

You've got me stumped... :(

It does say on the developers website that he recommends using an alternative drum sampler because that one can be buggy... For me, I just do as you outlined above and it works fine...!

Did you actually lod a sample into it??? -w-

And Poise is a real good sampler for the money (which is very little all things considered).

If you insist on a freeware sampler, also check out tatapoum or DS2 by scamme

I can vouch for tatapoum .....well...it's buggy sometimes LOL. but generally it am good. I used to have issue creating variations in drum patterns but tatapoum switched it up

slightly bizarre to get used to but once you get it it's sick.

forewarning....sometimes you gotta wait a bit before the samples will play back.

Cool! I'm making beats at work now thanks to this thread!!!

If anyone is looking for an alternative to Audacity, try Wavosaur. Free, similar to Sound Forge, and self executable. Would prefer this over the current audio editor.
