Funky that isn't "girly"

On the whole, I'm not feeling a lot of funky, as I find a lot of it a bit too "girly" with all the vocals and "carnivale" sounds. And some of it sounds just too much like plain old house.

However I have heard the occasional tune that I've really liked - usually it it the polyrhymic stuff that is pretty stripped back to bass and beats - but with killer percussion, of course.

Can someone please point me in the direction of some more tunes like this?

Perfusion - now I don’t know who is behind this but its one bad bad tune - check the latest Marcus show on rinse from 1.40.40 onwards to hear. No one has been able to Id this track so it must be something forthcoming

while I personally think the fluffy shit sounds a lot more like uk Garage than House, I too cant stand the crazy cousins style RnB tunes, ng plays a lot of this, and its real dross.

Yeah, I listened to Roska's mix for FACT magazine, and thought it was pretty awful, tbh.

Way too girly for me.
