WTF !!! Snake with foot found in China

Image

A woman in China discovered a snake clinging to the wall of her bedroom with one clawed foot. It turned out she'd discovered an incredibly rare mutation - it's actually more common for snakes to have two heads than feet. Unfortunately, Duan Qiongxiu of Suining, China, killed the snake before it could be captured and studied by scientists. She said "the monster" was crawling along her wall using its foot and she beat it to death.
According to the London Telegraph:

The snake – 16 inches long and the thickness of a little finger – is now being studied at the Life Sciences Department at China's West Normal University in Nanchang.
Snake expert Long Shuai said: "It is truly shocking but we won't know the cause until we've conducted an autopsy."

Creatures can re-evolve old features. Maybe this snake is the first mutation in a series that will bring back snakes with legs? Perhaps as the snakes' environments disappear, it will be better for them to have legs with claws. All the better for climbing around in cities.

Not that surprised. Evolution largely works through suppressing genes, when this fails, a gene is expressed in the phenotype as shown here.

Dinosaurs never left, birds are 100%, true blue, dinosaurs, crocodiles being the birds' only living relatives. Snakes are not closely related to dinosaurs at all.

All crocodiles are Archosaurs
All dinosaurs are Archosaurs
All birds are dinosaurs and thus Archosaurs too.
Crocodiles aren't dinosaurs.

However, if you want to see clawed, tailed, toothed dinosaurs, just wait a couple of months. They've already retrieved the tail and teeth of some chickens and soon they'll be recreating 'non-bird dinosaurs' in the lab through turning on genes that have been suppressed. Turns out that birds have the same number of tail vertebrae as Archaeopteryx when their tale is restored. They won't have to get rid of feathers because plenty of dinosaurs (like Velociraptor and possibly, baby Tyrannosaurs were feathered anyway).

Wonder what caused this mutation. Unless there's a species gone unknown that has evolved to the benefit of one arm haha.
As in my previous post, I forgot the EXACT mechanism, but the genetic information for fully formed traits that our ancestors had may still be in our body and they may appear when we're still in the womb, only to be turned off later (we still have tails and gillslits when we're embryos).

Chickens can still look like fully formed (non-avian/non-bird) dinosaurs and yeah, snakes can still have legs. The genes are just put into hibernation mode during the embryonic stage. When this, through some freak occurrence, fails to happen, the genes are expressed in the animal later in life.
