They're piss to distinguish. All the liberty cap lookalikes are non-poisonous as far as I know.
Basic guide - Nipple, first and foremost, will always be there, and you can usually distinguish them on the cap of little babies sprouting through
Stalk is NEVER perfectly straight, even the ones that look dead straight, if you look closer they'll be slightly kinked or deformed
Cap is the famous liberty cap shape, although some fan out in to an umbrella shape, although its up to your discretion whether you pick these, as there's a few lookalikes with similar caps
The fans tend to be a darkish blue/purple/black colour, although they may be much lighter on freshly grown ones
The stalk colour is usually off white, sometimes with a hint of blue, brown or purple in it
The cap colour changes depending on how moist they are, for this reason its best to go picking when its been sunny for a few days (i.e now)
They tend to be a dark green colour, with hints of blue and black when its wet, but in the sun they go a lovely white or even light brown colour (pending on the heat), get a bit more rubbery, and taste nicer (well, not nicer, just less shitty)
Going picking in the sun is a win win, they're piss to see from 20-30 metres away, assuming you do the famous 'get down on one knee/croutch' method so you can see them pop above the grass.
Also, there's usually a distinguishing blackish/blue colour where the bottom of the cap curves round to meet the fans/blades underneath.

I thought going picking in the sun wasn't advised coz' the sun soaks up all the dew in the morning or summin'?

They are better to pick when they're wet, someone explained the sciences to me but I forgot them. I always dry them out for storage and sale anyways, so getting that extra 5% of potency out of them doesn't bother me.
Picking is much easier in the sun too. The mountains here stay moist until about 11am though, so we always go picking about 7-8am on a sunny day. When october rolls around, due to fun welsh weather, it's almost perpetually wet anyway.

Wollo park has been sprayed against them, the place used to be FULL of people picking them around this time of year. Will probably still find one or two but few and far between.

The ones you do find will probably be in the woodland and as far as picking between woodland and fields go apparently if you make a fuck up on field you'll just hurl. Make a fuck up in woodland and your in for some nice kidney failure.

They are pretty easy to recognize specially once you find your first few. Then you will strike gold. I am lucky enough to have a legend of an old man who taught me :D but I don't think my head is really capable of it for a few years

Last year I found a huge one and no one dared eat it, it got bruised and went like fluorescent blue and we called it the mother ship and were scared to touch it. In the end I let it dry out and ate it another day but it was fucking disgusting, like a massive wet blue mushroom, was like an aliens dick.
