Firstly big up, every tune from you I've heard has been sick, always have that gorgeous dark, spacious vibe .

Few questions

If you could work with anyone who would it be?

Why the name Cyrus? any significance or did you just randomly choose it?

Any tips on getting some real weight to a sub? I can make a heavy sub but nowhere the kind of weight in your tunes, is it just down to mastering or do you have a particular method for this?

how long are you producing and after how much time were you happy with what you were making?

Theres loads i'd like to work with but offf the top off my head i'd say Timberland. Soming about his beats.

Im ashamed to say i got the name Cyrus from...............the film Warriors. It was one of my favourite films when i was a young whipper snapper. The line at the beginning of the film - " cyrus is the 1 and only".. i thought...ye, that me errr.. so i adopted it.

I dont think i do any different with my subs then the next guy/girl.
I use trilogy for my sub, using the generated sine patch. I fiddle about with the envelope, filter cutoff and res till i get a smoother sound then eq. I roll off the bottom end around 35-40hz, a wide boost at around 50-60hz then roll of the top anywhere from 500 to 2 k. I'll use some distortion on a send and thats about it. I dont always use compression either.

Altiverb is a good reverb unit but i actually use cubase 4 standerd roomworks plug in more so at the moment i'd say that one.

my favourite vst in gernal would have to be trilogy and atmosphere. There the 2 i use in most in my tunes.

I been producing since about 2002 ( sitting behind omni twiddling my thumbs) but on my own since 2003. My 1st tune was lost city which i was happy with (and released) but overall i'd say im still not happy with what im making. Im not saying there poor but I know theres better to come.

Well we known each other from day dot, and you know I love you but I don’t think I've ever actually asked you any questions about your production but seeing as we are I'm gonna

You have a great sense of darkness in your music, atmosphere is a big thing and I struggle to get a down n dark vibe to my tunes, how do you get that vibe?

How do you do your mastering? I mean pre master to just play say on your show? I struggle sometimes and a lot I use the same tools on each of my mixes I get different results on different tracks!

Last one! Low low end bass... How do you get it so prominent in your mix?

Oh and one more thing... When am I gonna see this studio eh boi

I always say it but just be unique. No 1 wants to hear another ..A,B or C. they wana hear a D. Just enjoy learning and finding you own sound. Also make sure your happy with your beats before you send them to labels, dj's ect. If there not up to scratch then your next pass out might get overlooked before being listend too.

Apart from the pc crashing ( especially if you dont save often), the most frustrating part of producing for me is getting the final mix spot on. Im never happy with my mix downs.

I dont think i've lost faith, but disheartend maybe. I dont think the deeper sub side of dubstep gets the recognition it should. Theres room for it all

I love cutting dubz, i love the whole process plus u get a 1 on 1 tutorial in a way. you learn more about what your doing each time you cut. The final product is so much better then digital (imo) and you can tell the difference in a club. Plus its part of the vynal process..we have to keep this alive.

Because im a miserable git (gangsta word). I dont know mate, its just soming i always done from day dot. I use alot of sounds low in the background as texture and time stretch the hell out of em so they sound totally different . It seems to give it a spooky vybe. I also use plugins like atmosphere and absynth over the top and just tweek em till i get the effect i want..the same as every 1 no doubt.

I've just started doing this as it goes, i used to stay away from it as i always cut. As people are playing digital more though i thought i best give it a little push. I'll just put it through a limiter and give it a little tweek so not to kill the harmonics of the track, and to be honest im worried about doing more harm then good. Anyway, you stuff sounds better then mine so i should be asking you

Favourite gadget at the moment is my blackberry curve...phones sik.

Theres a few but my 1 favourite dubstep track at the moment is Beyond by that guy Distance.

All time favourite album would have to be Bob marley's Legend. It never gets boring and its an album i'll put on when i've had a bad day.

My next gig is on the 2nd october @ dmz leeds. I've just got back from croatia so a few weeks rest.

Big up Cyrus, loving the new Tectonic Release, the shuffles remind me a bit of Benga.

Anyway, tell us a bit about how you organize your samples. Do you have one folder for each percussive element? Do you reuse a lot of samples or hits or are you constantly hunting for new ones?

Ayup, love the sounds and nice to see you doing so well

You mention being happy with your beats before sending them out, how important is it that the track is mastered? I like to mix as I go along but tend not to bother with final mastering as I fear I may do more harm than good.
Also what would you reccomend sending, C.D's or MP3's?
