Girls Girls Girls
THIS STARTED OUT AS A REPLY TO THE 'how old are you guys ?' post on: http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=72 BUT I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT, TO GET ALL YOU INTERWEB FREAKS TALKING
THIS IS MY ORIGINAL POST: Personally I am 22, on the cusp of 23, not quite 22 3/4 (Adrian Mole Style), more like 22 3/5. But I've killed a man before, so naturally I think that has aged me beyond my years.
But seriously, do you not think we should be instead asking "What gender are you?". Cause it fucking embarrasses me sometimes, the way dance music is so male dominated. I want to DJ/ produce, but all I'm going to be is another DJ/ Producer with a nob. What other hobby/interest is so male dominated? Not even football is that bad.
On behalf of the Male dubsteppas I apologise to all the girls on this site, hope you didn't get any cheeky sneers from record shop geeks or something. We need more wimmin in this subculture. If it wasn't for Georgina Drumz it would be a fucking disgrace. WHAT DO YOU THINK? PLEASE REPLY

this has been done to death a couple of times. but seeing as we're referring to previous posts, here's mine from waaay back:

....I'm saying 'llow these threads - as in, I don't really see the need for them. having been a girl for well, forever, i'm not inclined to spend too long talking about it in the context of dubstep or any other kind of music.
from time i get turned away at the door at fwd for being a girl, then i'll be bothered. other than that, it's never been any kind of an issue. i'm also not one of them birds whose 'down with my sisters' etc etc, for the same reasons.
plus there's nothing wrong with a girl dj looking good too. this and skills are not mutually exclusive. it's actually only geezers that make her a sex object....
***
....but actually i'd agree w kozee in that most guys in dubstep are all good. i've also said before that fwd and dmz are amongst very few clubs where, as a girl, you don't feel away to bowl up on yr own, smoke yr spliff in the corner and mind yr business/chat to randoms as the mood takes u.
i want decent djs to be booked, decent producers to have releases. i don't care if they're male/female/a monkey. tho i would be impressed by a monkey.
end of, now. pls....

Only been on the site a fortnight so didnt know this topic had been done to death. Also, its not that i am complaining about girls as if it is their fault that they are underrepresented in dance (someone's probably writing a phd on it as we speak), just trying to get a topic rolling, and to say that if people in the scene have been giving girls grief then they are a bunch of stnuc.
Agree with rachel's about the 'I dont care whether producers are girls/boys whatever' statement, and hopefully one day being a female dj won't have any novelty value attached to it.

The only time I asked someone what colour their skin is was whilst working for NHS direct - after a bit of wheezing it turned out to be blue.Jubscarz wrote:It is what it is. I cant see what possible merit is to be gained from forcing this to be an issue, I dont ask people on here what colour their skin is. Do you know why? Because it just doesn't matter.
So revulsed was I by this neo-necrochat, I forgot to order the ambulance and the man was found dead in his home. Luckily I hadn't taken any details so they never tracked it back and I got promoted. We were laughing about it down the pub for weeks.
Hmm....

Damn blu-ggers!!Jubscarz wrote:Blue people tend to be very rude. They are notorious for advocating many of the great ill's in society such as negating their P's and Q's. Your particular indirect form of ethnic cleansing is to be commended in light of the battle for morals and etiquette in society. Nah mean?

Fuck's sake, don't know what I started with this post here, I can't manage to filter through the tomfoolery, disgusted outrage and general mayhem. That point about the monkeys has merit though: I wouldn't fuck with the baboon type things with red arses- you can see the malice in their eyes.
Just to piss you's all off a little bit, I'm going to tell you a bit about myself and shamelessly promote my plans for dubstep domination. My name and my username are one and the same (this boy's got lyrics), I am a slacker and I have pretensions to be BT4's answer to Martin Clark/ Blackdown. Love his pitchfork thing, and Drumz of the South's stuff, but want to do it myself with a more journalistic angle (even though they have degrees in this and I have not, my problem is their blogs aren't frequent enough).
So one of these days I will have a blog/website thing going, we shall see. Point is you should check out my large blog/article review thing on Vex'd's appearance in Belfast last fortnight (BT4 being a Belfast postcode, although fuck all this parochial norf v sarf shit). The review is fucking massive but I reckon it is of a quality that you may enjoy so give it a go you bastards: http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=136292#136292
earlier versions of this article had a spelling mistake in it where the title had the word Blefast in it instead of Belfast, but this link is up to date. Sure as fuck hope that doesn't fuck up any of the other links I sent people but I'll have to live with the pain.
For those who are not in the know: Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland, affectionately pronounced (and now spelt) as Norn Iron. Boxcutter of Planet Mu & Hot Flush fame lives in a town 20 minutes by motorway from Belfast, but sadly he hasn't got quite the attention he deserves in his hometown/country, but then there is no full on dubstep night here so that is understandable.
This last bit of text is for all you people working in the retail industry in mainland UK. NORHTERN IRISH MONEY IS STERLING (just as Scottish is), and we recently won a case in the court of Human Rights that decided we were being discriminated against because we were getting our cash rejected by British shops. So next time I get my crisp tenner rejected, all hell is going to break loose, because I cant understand why people are willing to not except my cash, after all, all the different brands of norn iron money have the word sterling printed on them. Financial transaction: Its how capitalism works, its not as if we're giving you drug money or anything!
Just had to get that ironed out. Otherwise, I am 22 and have been into Garage for years so I am certainly not new to the game, just new to the whole internet forum thing.
Cheers,
Owen Griffiths

first rule of journalism: learn to self-edit. that review was too long for me to be bothered with.owengriffiths wrote:I have pretensions to be BT4's answer to Martin Clark/ Blackdown. Love his pitchfork thing, and Drumz of the South's stuff, but want to do it myself with a more journalistic angle

I thought one of the main aims of modern journalism was to use any excuse to advance your particular agenda and career under the guise of righting wrongs.Corpsey wrote:Man, I don't mean to sound snide but if you want people to look at an article just post a topic about that aritcle
Does any woman trust blokes that put forward misandrist, feminist opiinions, or do they just look at it as an underhand way of getting laid? Most women I know generally think the latter.

I'd say 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other, although most of the time I find it the latter.Shonky wrote: I thought one of the main aims of modern journalism was to use any excuse to advance your particular agenda and career under the guise of righting wrongs.
