Watched Session 9 the other week and thought it pretty amazing. That ongoing sense of dread, red herrings in the plot and no idea of what the fucks going on until the last few minutes. Nobody seems to know the film though which seems a shame as it's the best psychological horror I've seen in years. By the same guy who did the Machinist if that helps.
Hmm....

I think it one of the best horror films made.. I really love. I must have watched it about ten times. The building they shot it in no longer stands. It was pulled down not long ago. Replaced by, you guessed it, luxury apartments. Mother fuckers. I highly recomend the doc at the end. All the extra's are very good. There some really creepy photo's on it aswell. "And where do you live Simon?"

Gotta love how Tarantino throws his name all over stuff he had fuck-all to do w/ makingParson wrote:i just watched sonatine for like the 5th time
It don't even say "Quentin Tarantino Presents:".....just "Quentin Tarantino's", as if he directed the movie himself...heh
Just saw "The Fountain" last night. Don't really how I feel about it yet, to be honest. The way the plot unfolds is so disjointed, that there were plenty of times I wasn't even sure what I was looking at. I still rate Aronofsky as a director, but that shit was just way weird.

Oh, also saw Mystic River the other week, very bleak but really good performances all round. If you're into Requiem for a Dream, you might also like Pi - mathematics, madness, conspiracies and self-medication.
And as a seasonal offering, nothing quite conjures up the joys of Christmas in such a jolly way as Bad Santa - why not buy a copy for your mum - it's the gift that keeps on giving

Pi is a fucking rowdy film, it left me feeling like i'd been battered around the head for the duration, its SO intense. absolutely incredible though, i rate it very highly. same with requiem, it takes a while to come back to normality after the intensity of the climaxShonky wrote:If you're into Requiem for a Dream, you might also like Pi - mathematics, madness, conspiracies and self-medication.
recently saw La Tourneuse De Pages (for free, bizarrely) which was pretty good, incredible lead performance, film was nothing groundbreaking but it was well executed
havent watched enough films of late, i need to sort that out. i want to see Pan's Labyrinth, apparently thats really good
yeah it is ridiculously well done... stephen fry smacks it aswell.. the first scene of the first series when bertie's got a killer hangover in court is pure jokes!elgato wrote:you knows
bertie is a don, he and jeeves give me consistent jokes during what is currently an almost guaranteed (:?) saturday mid-afternoon hangover recovery slot. that series is priceless, they got it so right in pretty much every way
Just got cable the other week, and was thinking it pretty waste UNTIL I noticed that Jeeves and Wooster were on. Read some Wodehouse after watching this the first time, and he is one of the best comic writers of all time - I think Fry and Laurie capture this particularly well, the facial expressions and Jeeves looks of bemusement at his charge are priceless. I always wondered whether Wodehouse was being a class warrior on the sly, as he does seem to paint most of the wealthy characters as little better than self-centred children.elgato wrote:you knows
