Building a own Studio

Post by Big MD » Thu Sep 24, 2009 12:42 am

so like i promiossed, i'm making a thread, about my studio. At the moment, this thing is my wrhole proudness, we made from a stable a full working studio.

It began all 1.5 years ago, as we was kicked from our old room, where we had our studio. The owner of it didn't want to have musician anymore in his old industry bilding, so we searched a new space, finally we found an old stable (300 years old) and it looked like this

So now we had to start somewhere, so we changed first of all the rotten boards of the Top
Image

After we began to make the walls on front and back of the stable, to this moment, it was winding thru the wrhole thing.

His one we made as entrence

The secound one is there where later should bee our hang out corner. so we put a big window in it.

This was the easy part of it, the next steps we did is, to order some new boards, isolation and a lot of wood for to isolate the room we built. Cause it is an Studio whit a Band part, and we have neighbours, we made the isolation a bit fater, so the sound is not going thru. plus it's higher placed, it's cold there in the winter.

Now is the begining of the hard time of bilding. don't know how, but in this period i never saw my decks, a computer for to produce or something, it was hard.

We also made a toilet, i think its one of the most important thing in a studio. yeah i know it looks just ugly but it should change. this was only a provisorium for to go while on bilding :)
Image

In the end of this Phase of bilding it looked like this - isolated 8 cm and covered whit boards.

The next thing we did is the Gallery above there where the Hangout corner should bee later, There up was in this moment our Toilet, at this time we had plans to make beds there for to sleep. WE PLAND!

As next, we had to split the big room now we covered whit boards and isolation. we wil split it in 3 rooms each one is 30 quadrat meters big. The Studio room, The Bandroomm, and the chillout corner.

The chilout corner is enlarged whit the galery we made. so totally we have about 120 quadrat meters now

here's the "studio/bandroom wall whit window, it's uilt of one side whit gips, 16 cm isolation and the other side whit boards, to garant the highest possible soundproofing.

as you see, we ain't sopping working, we bought some laminate for the chill room and the studio, and was on puting it in.

On the other side of the bandroom we have the wall to the chillout corner, we bilt it of boards and allso 16 centimeters of isolation. allso the stairs are there, so we didn't have a choice where we want to doo it.

Image

i remember this period, we just made the studio and the bandroom, so we could make some music, it was hard, and we didn't need the hangout corner, so we had time whit it.

The bandroom floor is covered whit a red carpet. as you can see, we have big mirrors, we get this from an old karate school, they bougt new, and gave it to us for about 50 swiss franks (25£)

After the snow was gone, we started to finish the wrhole room (we tought, i think it wil never bee to end finished we always find new work)

The chilout corner has the original roof of the stable, we hoped, that no water wil drip down, so we began to doo the covering whitout waterproof isolation.
Image

but as we finsihed all, we saw, that we was wrong. it was lucky that the snow was gone, we uncovered the wrhole roof top and put roof foil on it.
