Becuase of this thread, I'm now booking spoken word sets in the middle of club nights where I lecture the crowd about the art of the reload.

Oct 1 Taurus: You've a tendency to agonize about the next step. If you get stuck, mention it to the people around you. They'll give you all sorts of ideas that you won't agree with and suddenly you'll realize the direction you do want to go.

Sure enough.

lol

yeah since I've never been to a dubstep night, I have no clue what the "rewind experience" is like. But I do know that hearing a song for a very short period of time is fuckin SICK.

I think it's good that a huge paper like the NYT is covering dubstep. It's just a shame they couldn't find a more talented or better informed writer to do it.

I reckon he got too caned to leave the house and then used his imagination.

The writer seemed really confused by the rewinds. Like it was a mistake or something.

The LA times article on LET, much like MAH's dubstep warz, both catch onto something that's missing from the NYT article: that there's a flashpoint of creativity happening. It's definitely going down in NYC right now, and has been for a few years. maybe that's it? Dubstep @ a rave like T&B might be new sounds for the writer, but it definitely seems established. there's nothing fledgling, on-the-edge about Skream & Benga throwing down for a room full of fans, more like ... holy shit, there's this fully-established scene going on completely outside of my life. Let's check out the ecology of it. ie, rewinds, wobblez, etc.

My friend and I are going to do an over-the-top theatrical audio recording of this piece. Then someone should make a tune out of it.
