also i believe many of the people getting so defensive in this thread are probably huge richie august fans, so we shouldn't really care what they have to say anyways.

to tell the truth I've never heard a richie august tune and this thread still disturbs me, mostly because you would never catch vibes like this on the forum a few years back... and I would hesistate to blame that on the tunes. People's attitudes seem to be changing more wholesale.

however, the one thing i never agree with is pretentiousness

the labeling of different sounds always ends up leading to people thinking their shit is hot, that they know what good taste is, etc.

the perfect dj does not exist. there will always be someone in the room who disagrees with your selections, thinks you suck, etc.

you can't please everyone all the time.


i look at it this way, the dumbing down of sounds make it easier for the intelligent listener to discern between what they do and don't like, and makes it easier to avoid what they don't like

Anyway, Richie August is pretty sick. I think calling him out for some bullshit is pretty unwarranted. Direct your anger elsewhere. Some of his tunes I think are pretty forward and some I could do without. I don't understand the hate though. Who gives a shit. He's not blatantly taking the piss like Rusko and Caspa, now is he?

From memory, dubstep is an experimental type of music. Shouldn't that entail the artists to experiment with what ever they want?

I like a good wobbly banger myself, but also like the more traditional dub stuff. Honestly, I think the cheesiest dubstep songs are the ones that show their house and standard d+b influences.
