assuming it was the OP's intention to run everything thru the tape, then yeah valid points.

but the OP hasnt stated one way or the other.

they could put individual hits thru before sequencing them. put strings, pads and other individual tracks that aint so rhythmic thru. plenty of use can be made of tape without running a final mixdown to it.

If you're going to start running stuff through outboard gear I'd recommend you STRONGLY consider going 24bit right away.
88khz is easier to use than 96khz as you don't have to be concerned with dither.

The Wii Remotes are being used as Midi Controllers (that are SO suitable for dubstep because you can map out different motions to different parameters very meticulously and do all your wobbling manually in real-time), the DS runs some awesome homebrew music software and the NES as you can see is running MidiNES, which is a cart that enables you to send midi in to the NES, using it as a sound module. I'm not kidding, it even has alot of dpcm (wave equalivent) samples including all the TR stuff, Linn and yes, even Amen. .

yeah not to be the jerk in the room, but tape isn't particularly weird.

VHS on the other hand, is an odd one.

instant weird? crap guitar pedals. ie, i have a rat pedal which sounds complete shit on guitar, but does wonders on a harmonically dead snare drum. gives it that oh-so-nonsexy transitor distortion vibe.

and i'm letting my favorite cat out of the proverbial bag, but alesis' completely failed product line, the modFX from the early 2000's, are FANTASTIC.

there's also a bunch of prosumer rack gear from the 90s that can be had for a pittance and mangled, etc to destroy audio. whether or not it gives it character or bad 18bit distortion is another discussion entirely. but its def. worth a shot.

now don't go buying them all until i complete my collection, dammit!
