Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
a classic and overused technique in ghastly TV shows is to reverse first, then apply reverb to the sound, and reverse again
it makes the syllables crescendo into the actual words making it sound like your dead
otherwise reversed delay/verb is great before drops

Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
great for that kinda sucking in feel on vocals. can hear it on alot of tool intros and such. great for lead ins pretty much and on right before the dop or into it like a half bar before it hits.
Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
the reversed delay happens in hip-hop tunes as well.

Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
for a bit more fun reverse a sample, apply the delay/reverb like you would then reverse it again as per standard reversed delay/reverb
if doesn't seem too dramatic layer with the opposite and automate some envelopes over it.
hell experiment for some quickly made insane fx and sounds minus loads of automation and modulation

Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
what other effects yield crazy results.
Like a reversed phaser wouldn't be too noticeable ( i think)...but other effects....
like some PSP nitro shit would sound nuts reversed.
reversed flanger maybe?

phaser on out of phase samples, bit crush/degredation then restoration plugins, loads of shit, just experiment man. misusing or rather experimenting with a plugin or effect or a piece of gear is what it's all about for discovering some insane shit you can call your own.86. wrote:what other effects yield crazy results.

served me well so far....
plus you will spend incredibly more time trying to retrace someones steps, than if you tried something out on your own.
especially since they probably arrived at that destination from blind experimentation as well.

Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
I did this on my newest track. Did some twiddly shit on guitar on my dads laptop on cakewalk, delayed/reverbed it then exported it, then put it into acid and reversed it. sounds sickk
Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
Yeh man
RV7000 is a monster for this, plus use edit automation on them, i.e the decay. It will give lovely sounds

Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
Yeah been doing both for years. I had an old hardware sampler that had this "feature" built in so i've been doing it ever since.. kinda became a habit.

Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
only advice i can add you buy a piece of hardware or plugin you get your cash worth and how you learn
Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
Used reverse delay for the first time on a new song I'm working on, sounds amazing
reverse reverb is used in soooo many pop/rock records, not just prog metal

Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
never thought of doing this, now can't wait to try it out
Re: Reversed Reverb & Reversed Delay
I was going to stick a post up about this!
I don't know much about it at all so how is it done!?? Is it just a case of recording the reverb from a sound and then reversing it and then sticking the reversed sound at the start of something!??
Might be being a bit thick but any advice would be appreciated!!
Thanks.
