midnight request line

Post by mercutio » Thu Oct 22, 2009 1:19 pm

to put forward a controverial point, am i the only person who thinks that request line is a very overated track. i admit that its not bad. but i hate the idea that its the flagship dubstep tune.
im not trying to take anything away from skream, he is in my eyes the best dubstep artist that there is.

I don't think skream is the best dubstep artist out there, but midnight request line is still an awesome track. It has a great feeling of space to it, whenever it was played on a night out the whole atmosphere changed, it felt like you were plunged underwater as these strange noises enveloped you.
It also had a lot more of a melody to it than a lot of other dubstep out at the time, which might be why it appealed to me.

its a banger, even the sample's sick "you got it, coming up" i dont think its over rated at all as nobody really says its the best tune about more like they talk about how it made an impact as a experimental tune, i cant think of a track from back then that has as much character or impact it's just truly a very individual track that came about at just the right time

the sub on it is pure vomit material (in a good way!) regardless of the hype it received, it got as big as it did for a reason...

You think its sick, but not worthy of the hype it received 4 years ago?

he's not hating the song. he has a right to hate a song that's overhyped though.
ok I lied, I do see hate.

what a pointless thread, why do something like this, if you dont like a tune keep it to yourself, if you think its overrated what good does it do going on a forum and talking down on a tune? you're not going to be able to change it. theres loads of tunes that are overrated but if everyone who thought that came on here and started a thread about them it would be pretty dry. Not meaning to have a go (which i realise i am) it just annoys me when people start threads putting down tunes. It also annoys me when people start threads bigging up a tune AND DONT PUT AUDIO :x nah only joking :)

why is the thread so pointless that it made you compose this rather long reply? you obviously care.

Since I'm a bit late to the party dubstep-wise I find I get very jealous of people who were around when these tracks were new... :x

It's all about seeing how the scene has changed with new producers bringing new sounds. Especially by now there must be tracks that you can wet your knickers over? Why rag on an old tune? Enjoy some basssssss

Edit: I just went and actually listened to it.... massive tune! What dubstep is all about in my opinion.
Forever falling in love with old tunes that I will never hear dropped.
