Being reminded yesterday of quite how cool the NHS can be. My girlfriend was in to have two wisdom teeth extracted so I had to be the 'responsible adult' so that she could get proper sedation. In the waiting room, an old lady (70s at least, very shaky) came in with a fairly thick germanish accent, asking to be seen because she was in a lot of pain and she'd seen her dentist, but for some unintelligable reason to do with the postal strike, she didn't actually have an appointment with anyone.

The girl on the desk, ran around to find a doctor on his break and he saw her within about 15 minutes.. no id needed, no money exchanging hands, barely an appointment needed... and she gets her treatment.

I bloody love this country when it works.

I fucking hated it :o
It done nothing but rain all week.
People constantly took the piss out of my accent
My dads pub there is dead.
I had one hot meal the whole time i was there.
It was just shocking :(

One good thing is they have a few good shops.
Thats about it though.
