ED RUSH + OPTICAL

Ed Rush and Optical are one of the current leaders of the new school drum and bass. One of the originators to bring back the dark sounds of drum and bass and push it to new levels, Ed Rush + Optical continues to make waves with each new release.

More recently, after a slew of other releases, Ed Rush and Optical have released another genre-defining EP, the Creeps. This was again met with critical and commercial success, as the album helped them to win Knowledge drum and bass award for producers of the year.

Ed Rush soon found himself on the cusp of prominence, as his releases in 1996 on the Techsteppin' compilation, the Skylab EP on the Metalheadz label, and "Killimanjaro" on the Prototype label all helped to define the genres' direction towards techstep, a two-step style of drum and bass. He subsequently released more tracks on various labels, and his popularity as an artist grew, as did his sound as a producer.

Matt Quinn's recordings as Optical skirt the atmospheric side of neuro-funk drum'n'bass, the paranoid musings of a handful of industrial-strength British producers like Ed Rush and Source Direct

FUTUREBOUND

: From the very outset of dance culture, and right up to the present day, Brendan Collins, AKA DJ / Producer Futurebound, has steadily developed an almost unsurpassable reputation for tearing up dancefloors on a worldwide scale.

Whether he is destroying venues such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), or in the studio, you know what you’re getting with the sounds of Futurebound.

Enter VIPER RECORDINGS

2003 saw the birth of Viper, started by Futurebound himself. The label has so far spawned eight releases of the highest quality, with the first, Blind Cobblers Thumb by Futurebound & Jaquan, achieving instant anthem status, and was more than ably backed by the monstrous Pied Piper .

7 further releases have followed, spanning a plethora of D&B styles, and have featured the likes of J-Majik & Wickamans Fleshwound, Barons slamming remix of Blind Cobblers thumb, Matrix & Futurebounds funk fuelled monster Strength 2 Strength, as well as the mighty Circuit Breakers project which saw Futurebound pull in top draw tracks from State of Mind, Moving Fusion, Entity, Probe & Sylo, Jaquan & Futurebound himself

J Majik

Though he's one of the youngest members of the Metalheadz stable, Jamie Spratling debuted back in 1992 with tracks recorded for the Planet Earth label. Similar to the other Metalheadz, Magik’s 12"s are dark affairs, with some of the best drum'n'bass lines around, though he leavens the brew with jazzy flourishes, like the Spanish guitar prevalent on the flip side of his first single for Metalheadz, "Your Sound." Living in Northwood, England, he began DJing in the early '90s -- while in his early teens -- and recorded "6 Million Ways to Die" in 1992 as DJ Dextrous. Two more singles followed for Planet Earth before the real DJ Dextrous became known to him, after which he turned to the alias J. Majik for his 1994 debut on Metalheadz, "Your Sound." The track was an undeniable classic, and later showed up on the Platinum Breakz compilation. Besides later singles for Metalheadz such as "Jim Kutta" and "Arabian Knights," Majik records for Mo'Wax as well as his own Infra Red label, which released his debut LP, Slow Motion, in mid-1997. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

CHEF

One of the pioneering DJ's of Dubstep, 23 years young Chefal aka Chef, hailing from the home of Dubstep, Croydon, South London has been mixing for 13 years.

Chefal's upfront selection and skills on the decks have led to him DJing to all corners off the globe from Vancouver in Canada to Christchurch in New Zealand. Over the last year Chef has been spreading the Dubstep virus from UK towns and cities such as Brixton, Nottingham, Brighton, to major towns and cities all around the world such as Seattle, LA, Chicago, San Francisco and New York in America. Vancouver and Montreal in Canada to Amsterdam and Utrecht, Holland Copenhagen, Denmark --- Helsinki, and Malmo, Sweden --- Wellington, Dunedin, Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand!! His list is endless, for a Dubstep DJ without a single release in the shops or online this is a unique achievement and is a merit of Chefal’s DJ skills.
