The serious answer I enjoy:
soup...lots of soup
nuts (for fats and energy)
fruit especially mango and bananas.
vegetables especially avocado.
ratatouille.
humous (for fats).
any supermarket soup i've had has tasted bland as fuck
nut's i like but never eat enough of but muesli is nice..
mango, melon & grapes are my faves...
never eat enough avovado
ratatouille i have never had either and i hate humous...
Ratatouille is so easy to make and delicious, I used to buy this 40p Sainsbury's thing, which is pretty much the cheapest meal in a can ever but homemade is so much better...and less salty.
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2903/ratatouille I make it with way more tomato.

I'd love to eat fish, I think if I could get fish into my diet it would be almost perfect, but I just can't stomach it for some reason, I've never liked it.parson wrote:we have similar diets aside from me eating fish and dairy a few times a week.rbnc wrote:ps:

i personally have decided to draw the line at eating animals who raise their young. it is a personal daily exercise in compassion.
i do miss rare steak though.

Re: Diet + Spiritual Wellbeing
because animals that raise their young demonstrate a level of compassion that i can relate to and i'm not trying to break up friends/family. mammals and birds have very similar relationships with each other.Pistonsbeneath wrote:why stop at animals that raise their young?

Re: Diet + Spiritual Wellbeing
Is it really compassion though? It's a natural instinct for most animals to raise their young surely, rather than a conscious altruistic act.parson wrote:because animals that raise their young demonstrate a level of compassion that i can relate to and i'm not trying to break up friends/family. mammals and birds have very similar relationships with each other.Pistonsbeneath wrote:why stop at animals that raise their young?

Re: Diet + Spiritual Wellbeing
salmon don't raise their young. they don't have friends or families.
i eat em.
birds raise their young. they teach them how to fly and hunt and they hang out in large social groups and they bicker amongst each other and have complex social structures.

Re: Diet + Spiritual Wellbeing
I'm trying to say that the desire for most animals to raise their young is completely guided by instincts and subconscious thoughts. To suggest it's "compassion" would suggest that it's a conscious decision animals make/
Re: Diet + Spiritual Wellbeing
or maybe that compassion is something more instinctual and that it requires higher forms of consciousness to be able to disregard it.
the same way i can overcome fear i can overcome compassion.
