The best one I've got was "this sounds like a hellish apocalypse theme song."
I'm worried about Bart. Today he's drinking people's blood, tomorrow he could be smoking!!

A couple of weeks ago, a girl, having not heard any dubstep ever, commented on my selection pre-emptively: "But your music is all mwo-mwo-mwoo" (originally "mömmömmöö", as that might clarify the emphasis for some of you). I was just going to switch on some Gorillaz, but after hearing that expression being used I played the Boomkat clip of Pinch's remix of Red up. Fun.
That bootleg remix of Minnie Riperton's "Loving you" should be distributed freely so you could convert all the girlz. Another agreeable mash-up I've stumbled upon is "My love", done by some Danish producer. The synth is golden and the track actually had a dubsteppy pace all the time.

'could you play something a little less... scary?' (in reference to 'lightning')
from another DJ, though the floor was packed during anti-war: "dude, play some beats!"

this weekend, random dreadlock girl: 'have you got something a bit more danceable?'
(while playing out ancient memories - skream remix)
i actually took the time to explain it's half tempo and she would be fine if she tried dancing double speed. lost cause though.
even better was the drunk lunatic giving me angry looks while playing kromestar's surgery, some weeks ago. classic.

big up for everyone taking their time to reply this thread.
I knew that I wasn't alone with all those weird remarks, still Im used to it from long time. Listening to Hip House, Deep House, New Beat in late 80's and early 90's, Acid House, Detroit Techno later on to reggae and dancehall. How could I forget about Drum and Bass?
I remember one bar gig where the local drunks shouted to turn of the "crap" when I was playing Elephant Man and the owners looked at me like I just dragged my cock in their coffee cups.
Ps. You gotta love those folks who come to a club and ask the dj for requests.
