Terminal Dusk 013

Post by hoodz » Wed Nov 11, 2009 8:56 pm

Terminal Dusk presents the 5th and final installment in our “color” series, Obsidian.

Kicking off the A side in fine style, LA’s mashup legend 6blocc teams up with Fiend for the sickest collaboration. Ill Technique features huge bass alongside serious jungle pressure. Next up, UK’s Physical delivers Synthetic, a deep rolling thrill ride complete with techy synths, piano leads and an ingenious wobble.

Over to the B side, Terminal Dusk’s very own Fault provides 2034, a sick wobbler with catchy synth leads, subtle amen breaks & rastafari vocals. Rounding out the 12″ is Australia’s Droid Sector with Abandoned, a roller complete with thunderous breaks & prominent epic bass, a very DJ friendly cut.

6Blocc > I Dubs volume 3

Post by hoodz » Wed Nov 11, 2009 9:01 pm

6Blocc > I Dubs volume 3

Ruffneck dubstep block-party mashups from 6Blocc. The West Coast producer has consistently found his his own sweetspot between classic hiphop, dancehall and dubstep with the 'I Dubs' series, this time balancing out Rap classics like Gangstarr's 'Just To Get A Rep' with slow and groovy dubstep bass, or raggacore anthem 'Babylon Bwoy' with bulging South London subs, or mixing chopped 'n screwed slow styles with halfstep weight on R'n'B banger 'See You Smile'. Rude stuff for fans of everyone from The Gaslamp Killer to Matty G and Mungo's Hi-Fi.

PACHEKO > LOCKDOWN (6BLOCC REMIX)

Post by hoodz » Wed Nov 11, 2009 9:15 pm

Image

It’s been a hot minute since we dropped an official Street Bass release, but the wait has definitely been worth it. This EP is a preview of the heat that will be the “Street Bass Anthems Volume 4” mixtape, hitting on CD and digital this Fall.

For those uninitiated, Street Bass is what Starkey and Dev79 have coined for their unique interpretation of bass heavy urban music. The first three volumes of the mixtape series (and the associated singles) have been runaway successes in the clubs, on the streets, and with the press!

The A side of this record features Starkey’s "Starkvillain" in vocal and instrumental versions. "Starkvillain (Instrumental)" is exclusive to this 12” and will not be on the mixtape! The track is upbeat and pumpin’ with female vocals, kind of in a 2-Step/Bmore vein but with a fresh slant.

Over the past few years, Starkey has staked his claim as one of the sickest and most respected producer/DJs on the scene. His recent Mix CD on Lo Dubs, Stark Bass, and debut album, Ephemeral Exhibits on Planet Mu, have been garnering more accolades than we could even think about including here. On top of that he’s had a string of remixes and singles from countless labels. Fire is the only thing that comes out of this man, so rest assured that this slab of club music is just that.

The flipside leads off with the 6Blocc (aka R.A.W. aka B-Boy 3000 - the legendary drum n’ bass turntablist) remix of Pacheko‘s "Lockdown." Venezuela’s Pacheko recently remixed Kotchy’s "She Made It Easy" for our digital release and the original version of "Lockdown" is soon to be released on the Japanese label Murder Channel. Here 6Blocc turns out a 4x4/Dubstep hybrid with reggae vocals rockin’ the vibe. Both moody and clubby at the same time, this tune is great fodder for a variety of crowds. 6Blocc has recently released tracks and remixes on Lo Dubs, N20, La Dubstep Nostra, and War Recordings UK.

San Francisco‘s DNAEBEATS has been making serious waves and was recently called a "Producer Extraordinaire" by XLR8R Magazine. "Razur Kut" straddles the line between sludgy Hip Hop and boomin’ dancefloor fare, with an infectious R&B sample. DNAEBEATS is often reminiscent of Rustie’s sound. Fresh off BD1982’s “Shotta Pon De Corner” / ”Space Boots” EP (which features 77 Klash, Slugabed, Hovatron and more).

Dev79 and Starkey’s Seclusiasis label has been heavy on the rise in the urban electronic underground. Other recent releases include a number of well received Raffertie and Kotchy singles (featuring remixes by the likes of Rusko, B. Rich, Drums of Death, Boody B, and Hrdvsion) as well as Kotchy’s ‘89’ album.

Read what the djs think about this release:

Jimmy Mofo (Mofo Rec. / Beat Assassins)

“Lovin the Jack Stat remix - full support from Beat Assassins.”

Elite Force (U&A Rec.)

“ ID mix is the one for me on here - nice jacked up beats & plenty of low end wobble.”

Baobinga (The Body Snatchers / Passenger Rec.)

“ I.D. remix is the winner here, top stuff”

Maelstrom (Katorza Rec.)

“Id mix for me, lovin the oldschool jungle pads and the shuffle beats”

Hexadecimal (Distinctive Rec.)

“ Digging the ID Mix most overall!”

Henry D (Bombtraxx Rec.)

“I remix is cool… will probably play it in dubstep sets.”

Andy McAllister (Ground Level Rec.)

“Great package, i reckon my favourite is the Jack Stat remix, will be dropping that in

my sets!”

Paul Nokes (Bassrock Rec.)

“ LOVING THE ID MIX!!! Really great remix, other mixes are very well done,

but it's the ID one that I'm really feeling, awsome stuff”

B-Phreak (Westway Rec. / Lucky Break Rec.)

"Like all the tracks, my fave is the I.D. remix… great dubstep, very phat production!"

Kickflip (NSB Radio)

"IDs mix chops and changes in his own unique style but TRO's chunky

and rolling remix is the one for me. Feeling all tracks though!"

Autodidakt (Traktor Rec.)

“Like the I.D. mix most. Top Notch!“

Tony Tay (Zouk Club, Singapore)

“ Like the Original and TRO Remix. Great work!”

Daniella Downs (Dead Famous Rec.)

“Definitely the jack stat mix for me. good old meets new approach on it.”

“Nice vibed! Review on breaks.it very soooon!“

Hugh (Hubiesounds / Brap.fm)

“ Wicked package all round, especially the original and the Jack Stat remix, but it's the

Will definitely play this loads. Big ups guys”
