Hey all, not new to the forums what-so-ever, been lurking for years.
Anyways, I just signed my first release about 2 weeks ago, and since then 2 more of my tracks have been scheduled for release.
The feeling is so surreal. Feeling vindicated within a community I love so much. Which is great.
Yes there was money involved, but beyond that I think the best pay off is the ridiculous amount of like minded individuals I have met since then.
Alot of individuals I had tried to contact prior to being signed ignored me. Since then, they will now hold a conversation.
It makes me feel slightly dirty to have conversations with people who only a few months ago wouldnt even give me the time of day.
Yet at the same time, it is what I have desired for so long I cannot help but do it. These artists are the people who inspired me to do what I do.
Any other similar experiences? How did you deal with the nagging sensation of the pompousness some of these folks display?
There is a duality to my emotions about this. On one side of my feelings, I completely understand producers not being able to talk to every person who torrented a copy of reason and wants to make a wobble. I myself have experienced this. RTFM. Put in the time and effort to develop your craft. Thats not my argument. They do not count. My argument is for the people trying to hone their craft.
On the other side, I myself have contacted a few people from this board and other similar production sites, merely saying hey my name is matt, i release under the name XXXXX, just saying hello wanted to have a conversation with a like minded individual, only to get the most egotistical and ridiculous responses ever.
Just wondering if there were any others who experienced this peculiar sensation. I'm never going to mention specific names or anything as such. Not trying to start an argument. I am simply wondering how others managed to overcome this. I know its something I have to do, I am just hoping someone can relate.
I personally feel grateful for every single person who sends me a message with kind words, another producer or a fan. I try to take the time to reply to each and every one of them. I just don't understand where this attitude comes from. It is sometimes hard for me to work with these individuals knowing how they treated people in my position.
Yeah so basically. Anyone else relate to this?

Re: 1st Release Appreciation Sort Of
I just don't let things bother me, I used to have a vast network of producers, Mcs, Djs and label owners but as ive grown up (musically) I have steared away from a lot of them as...
A) they don't make music I can appreciate other than just their production skills.
B) There is a lot of ego floating about and certain people only seem to wanna speak to plug their new releases/mixes - make idle chitchat then I get the dreaded link.. "can you bump this for me?"
I personally ignore most people within the scene these days - not through arrogance, just I find not enough people "get" it the way I do - I wouldn't let it bother you, Infact I get a bit happy when I get haters then a few months later they give me a message saying X is a big tune and I drop the bomb that its already signed and they go back to ignoring me.
Its politics really - you either follow it or ignore it.

i agree on the politics notion, def so much within this scene.
Im not trying to be naive, i understand its part of the game.
i dunno. its a bit frustrating thats all. sorry to make such a big post its just bothering me lately.
to see how shallow people are really detracts from my opinion of them...
but then in the long run having to work with them. So im forced to just swallow that bullet.
just makes me feel like a big hypocrite.
There used to be a sense of unity among electronic music lovers.
Now its become so secular.
Fucking counter productive.
Im just a big fan of music. Im a producer and Dj secondary. I wanna hear good music.
Just dont understand where that ego comes from.
Anyways ill stop bitching, glad someone understands where I am coming from.
