i have about half my samples (all my really good ones that would cause me to flip out if i lost) on dvds somewhere. if i lost the songs on my laptop i wouldn't be that crushed because they all suck anyway.
I had another cpu meltdown and lost all of my projects last week. Learn from my mistake.
How does a CPU meltdown effect your hard drive?
CPUs dont melt down unless you are running them overclocked imo. Still most CPUs are under clocked when sold so they last longer so over clocking them is normally ok.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
btw, I hope you guys are aware you should not be moving your computer (Desktop or laptop) while they are switched on? any knocks or movement can damage the disks in the hard drive.

So you have to download your files sp you have a local copy every time u need them?! then upload changes etc? long.
I have been working in IT and owned a PC at home for over 10 years and never had a hard drive failure. I advise people to look after their shit better and not to buy the cheapest parts from china they can find lol.
Buy known makes from reliable sources and take care of ur equipment and it will last.

Well you're one of the few lucky ones. No matter how nice of parts you buy they will die at some point. If good parts never die then why do all large sites run RAID configs with sometimes 20 copies of the same paired hard drives running?

What? No, I save my files locally, these are then backed up remotely. After the initial (full) backup it identifies new/ modified files and only backs those up accordingly. "Reliable" makes from known sources are just as liable to failure as any unknown component. Look at the trouble Sony has been having with their laptop batteries the last few years.
