Not ANOTHER Burial Clone...

Post by JemGrover » Fri Nov 13, 2009 5:54 pm

Pretty new to all this, and still getting to grips with it all, so yeah, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Might be asking for it, but I'm well aware I'm likely to get some stick, haha

production is cool, why all the references to burial???? (even in the title of the tune)
you are just pointing other people to the fact that it is quite derivative of someone elses sound
music is like painting dude, not tracing

I am sure that if you followed your own inspiration, your confidence wouldnt depend on other peoples reactions

keep searching for your sound dude, your personal inspiration and creative decisions are the only thing that you have to set you apart from all the other "clones' as you say

Yeah, I agree on the whole reference thing.. But a cynical mind would say it's easier to get feedback on youtube, etc if you load it up with certain tags, otherwise no one ever comes across it.
Cheers, though... Kind of expected a lecture, but appreciate it.

Ha, nah... it's cool mate. All it really was was an excerise in constructing a song. I kind of find that if helps to understand things a little better if you're following say, a "blueprint", then when you've got that down, just add your own spin on it.

I've got a load of tracks that actually need finishing first, but if I'm happy with 'em I'll post a download link. Cheers :D

nice tune, for me it could do with some more percussion etc to keep things interesting but might just be my taste

Mmm, you're right... Really like Let it Rain. The bass is deep. My friend's saying it needs "more trumpet", but ignore her.

Yeah, I'm in the process of filling it out a bit more. Got quite a basic sample library, but I've recently come across some pretty nice bongo-style hits, which might be nice. Who knows.
But thanks everyone, it's all been slightly intimidating posting here for the first time, I'm glad it's been well recieved. :)
