Breakcore documentary

Post by gnome » Sat Nov 07, 2009 4:20 pm

Cool documentary about breakcore featuring the big names in the genre. Very interesting to hear their thoughts on the genre

interesting stuff. i pretty much ignored breakcore despite being really into the early digital hardcore stuff. i know the docu was made a few years back but its made me want to check out some of the stuff i missed. mike paradinas' words were pretty salient weren't they.
He danced for eighteen hours staring straight into the sun, until at length a great vision came... He believed the world was made of shadow and that he could dream himself into the real world that lay beyond...

There is some great breakcore, but so much is terribly bad produced shit to wade thru.

Cock Rock Disco are a big fave of mine.

HAHAHAHAHA first time hearing it?

yeah it's bizarre. probably the most bizarre genre I've ever come across but I've found some sick stuff here and there.

speedocre is yet another genre right?

Well, I believe IDM, Noise, and Industrial (real industrial like Throbbing Gristle) can be a bit more weirdo than Breakcore...

Or maybe it's just a matter of taste...I love weird stuff and like all those shit.

Members of Throbbing Gristle hate that they've been tagged with the 'industrial' moniker, they don't identify with the genre at all

I enjoyed watching that thanks for posting it, I remember my first Gabba experience and that was some proper craaaaazy shit, good times. It seems that Breakcore has taken the dirtiest gabba and the dirtiest Dn'B and had a bastard love child together who has a psychological disorder, good stuff.

I used to think I liked breakcore, but one day I took stock of my records and realized that pretty much all of em were by Mr Funk...

OK to be fair, DJ Scud, Ablecain and some of the digital hardcore crew like Christoph De Babalon and Shizuo did some dope shit too...

so I guess I don't really like breakcore. Back in the late 90s though, I had such high hopes for it, but nowdays it all sounds like shite IMO

that docu was a little embarrassing tbh

that was pretty cool. I'm not a huge breakcore fan though. I like some of it but i can't listen for long periods of time.

I wouldn't use that video as a primer on breakcore. It's just something a few people put together, not based on having
a strong background on it or research. Still, there really isn't anything else like it, so it's useful as a slice of life/moment.
