Favorite "Epic" Music?

Post by MidnightMassDubstep » Sun Nov 15, 2009 11:20 pm

Mine's gotta be a brand new love of mine, 65daysofstatic. The first song on One Time For All Time is one of the very few songs that sends shivers down my spine. That and The intro on Reso - Otacon

For me it's two classic Melvins songs.....

"The Fool, The Meddling Idiot"

"Air Breather Deep In The Arms Of Morphius"

And of course the beautiful yet devastating Jesu song "Ruined".

Plenty more out there too, but they're the first to spring to mind.

Yeah, Godspeed You Black Emperor has got some pretty epic sounding stuff out. I used to think And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead made some pretty epic stuff too, but it's not really that "thick", but it's very journeyish, hehe.

I can't disagree with the suggestions in here already :)

Highly recommended epic band (who sadly broke up) - Chromelodeon.
Something like an 8-piece instrumental band with drum, guitar, bass, keys, accordeon, nintendo...very very epic.

I find IDM/Drill n Bass to be often really fucking epic.

Wisp's album Honor Beat is like an epic medieval adventures with dragons and stuff, except it's happening in a virtual world, all in cheesy graphics and aliens and lazers.

Agree that the Melvins have some of the most epic metal tracks. Love the track At The Stake, from the album Stoner Witch.

Oh...and Desert Search for Techno Allah from Mr. Bungle (Disco Volante album).

Sun Ra
NoFX - The Decline (30 minute punk song!)
Orbital - Belfast

There's a lot of epic music though.

Yep /\ Vangelis is epic as is Ennio Morricone, love both of those

Bukem made some epic drum and bass (L.P 1 etc) as did Goldie (Timeless)

probably the most epic is classical music?
