i stopped previewing these after the first 6 or so. seemed to be too chill and too complicated. "martyn - all i have is memories" and "millie + andrea - black hammer" are good examples of tunes made by some dude with a phd in sound design but tries too hard or like tries to reinvent the wheel or something and makes a beat thats too complicated and all over the place.

i dont want shit that puts people to sleep or confuses someone on how to step, ya know?

look i'm all for a variety of tunes coming under the dubstep umbrella... but first, looking through that list i think the only "happy" tune is skream's summer dreams and really isnt that just a garage tune?
(i MEAN! 'all i have is memories' wtf????? that is depressing right from the name! 'angie got stoned' is on the back of 'when i look at u' and i cant think of anything positive about it except maybe the piano...but there you go...beauty in contrast )

your query reflects an underexposure to fundamental tunes.... the sweetest most uplifting tunes i can think of are riddled with regret and fear... this music is supposed to be a reflection of our reality, not jump up remixes of top40 hits about drug dealers...

goddamnit if you can dig up the DMZ at leeds CD you can hear Poax trying to explain this on the mic. the people are positive but the music is troubled.


re-connect with reality...understand that art produces catharsis...

its already been said but ill say it again: if you want happy music with interesting drums and deep bass then listen to some goddamn FUNKY. or eat some L and go to a psytrance rave in a field somewhere.

can't wait for all the scenejumpers and bros to be blown away like ash from the creative cherry that is the spliff dubstep.

Exactly. You ain't been looking hard enough. ANYTHING by Geiom.. just the Island Noise album is so vibey and perfect for sunny afternoons. Good BBQ music.

Almost anything by HumanLeft / Rustie...if you're into the more Glitch Step sounds.. And almost anything by Ripple is nice and positive.. check out "Sunday Morning Dub".. my track of the summer.

and then you could just get a tracklisting for almost any set by ONEMAN. His sets are so vibey, nice and shuffly.. more akin to the Garage vibes but definitely definitely on the uplifting tip.

Wasn't dubstep a darker spin-off of garage music? I'm no dubstep guru by any means so correct me if I'm wrong (as if I had to ask), but didn't dubstep come about because people were trying to slid away from the happy, poppy, joyful vocal garage music that was everywhere? Some people were looking for a darker more experimental sound. I don't think it was ever meant to be "happy". that might be why your not finding the "happy" dubstep tunes your looking for, not that they don't exist.

If you haven't already, you might wanna check out some garage or bassline tunes.

The only intelligable lyrics i could hear were "time!" and "walking around" so i dont hear any sad subject matter disguised behind happy instrumentation. maybe when it first started it was never intended to be that way, but its 2009 and a lot of tunes have come out that do not fit the original mold.

certain types of art do. but i am also interested in cacophony and art that triggers the imagination and beckons one to look deeper inside themself, deeper than just the lower chakra or animalistic layer.

just imagine people at a family bbq listening to what they think is happy music but a few people there who are more conscious will giggle when they realize the underlying meaning to some of the lyrics or arrangements. what a trip that would be to see the unsuspecting! especially for the cronies smoking a spliff that looks more like a mannequin leg in the back garage. but it wouldnt happen if we had people with influence dictating the direction of 140 bpm double timed music to go. i hope you're not one of them.

i already have a collection of tunes from L-vis 1990, Footsteps, Alias, I.D. It's good stuff. I played some that day too with a good reaction.
