God this has been epic getting this one together, but here it is at last.

Big up to Mary Anne for being one of the most open, interested and interesting interviewees I have ever worked with.

Please do comment on the site if you agree or disagree with anything, get the discussion going. And check out my Kode 9, Rustie/Dam Funk, Falty DL and 2562 pieces on the same site while you're there!

Aaah very nice, but it's a lot ! :D

'Now, dubstep is a fantastic, sustainable model for how an entire scene can operate without patronage from the wider industry'
Nice one !!!

The disagree will follow when I've read the whole article ???

interesting interview

i hoped she might give some clue as to what she thought of where dubstep is musically though....commercially she gives her view but what about her personal preference?

i guess she really has to remaing 100% positive

That was a very interesting read, great interview bruv. MAH really opened up and gave us a glimpse of her as a human being which is rare these days.

Big up, way to rep south london too!!!!! (I'm from SE9 originally)

I don't think that was the reason at all actually. It just wasn't something I was interested in asking about, mainly because she shows exactly what her preference is every week by what she puts on her show! I was more interested in the bigger picture of what she sees as connecting threads in underground culture than "do you like 138bpm or 145bpm? do you like synths that resonate at 1000hZ or 2323hZ?" :)

I know that I'm addicted to my Mac. I force myself to go to Starbucks every day, in the middle of the day – half an hour walk there and back – because otherwise I can and do just sit at my Mac for eight, 10 hours straight, I just love it. And when I'm not on it, I'm tormented by it, and I've got my iPhone so I'm still connected. There is no question whatsoever that I have compulsive, addictive problems with computers, but also that my whole life is inside my Mac - I get a fraction of the physical mail I did. Physical things are... they don't exist any more.

This ..... I'm so fucking pissed off at ppl who don't understand why the internet and my PC is so important to me, to my show and my life in general .. my friends and my connections .. I utterly understand this quote from m/a/hobbs, just wish the (idiot) ppl around me 24/7 would understand too ...

great interiview Joe and Mary Anne really opened up to you dude ... I'm gonna be using snippets of this interview on a lot of my friends ...

Keep doing what your doing.

Thanks, that means a lot actually. I'm building a series of these interviews - my site veryverymuch.com is almost ready to launch with a longer version of this interview plus some more with Tony Thorpe, Cristian Vogel and I'm recording one with Kamal Joory tomorrow... I'd actually like to talk to you too Rob if you're up for it - will mail you :)

Oh yeah and I've got the most nuts exclusive mix from El-B that is going to really twist some minds, too :) :) :)
