They're quite skinny these stabs but for good detroit style stabs i find the best place to start is with a nice organ. it has that emmediate Attack which you need and if you've built it yourself, a control over the decay/sustain which is where you'll be able to introduce your own evolution to the stab as the track progresses.

You would be amazed how many stabs in classic techno songs were actually samples. That said, the above instructions will get you where you are trying to go.

Big artists were sampling too, like Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, etc

Samples, thats what it is. I also just use the Chord function on my Alesis Andromeda A6 as well, it does perfect Detroit Tech stabs, one reason why i bought it.

Try C min 7. Probably my favorate stab chord.
