When DR had their exhibition in sheffield, the sign when you entered said 'most copied design company tm' lol

skull material looks ok on some thumbnail but it's not so heavy when you got the sleeves. dubstep artwork is much better than grime true, don't even get me started on dancehall... some 'world' music is fairly embarrassing too... but the thing with those three at least, is it's kind of endearing, seeing a sixteen year old in his size 8 new era in a photo taken on his sister's mate's phone as an album cover, or pencil and crayon drawings of people dancing on riddim albums, or a whole bunch of 30 rake n scrape musicians squeezed in a photo proudly showing off their homemade instruments... a lot more personal, like real people made the art and the music. dubstep artwork sees a lot more proper jobs and it generally feels a little more distant. then i guess it feels a bit more distant anyway, so much space, recorded cleaner, scarcity and remoteness of vocals... human but in a much different way.
got man mad now
now i can't rhyme
things get sour like
lemon and peach

I did the album art for this new producer; www.lethemdub.com Both EPs. Get them; they are free!

Im always up for doing more as I've just moved back to London after my graphic design MA, and finding it tough to get into a phat studio/agency. Love album artwork and always have. It involves you into the music more with proper artwork and would love a chance to do proper print covers (the Lethem stuff was digi only). Look at the stuff Sigur Ros and Mum do with their sleeves; so tactile and beautiful. Its a shame not more dubstep sleeves aren't similar. There is great stuff around though. The One of Us cover was big and the screen printed Jagz the Smak EP from time ago was a nice touch.

So Blackdown if you ever need someone for design shiz, get in touch fella!

i really like the tempa sleeves, i think they look smooth and i like that grey card they use which looks like its recycled. (seems abit sad to be commenting on the type of card used but im sure the design heads on here will know what i mean) the most simple design often looks the best, "less is more" and all that :) i also really like the Brainmath illustrations, the artwork for Digital Flora - Zomby is really nice. i like the hemlock and applepips sleeves aswell.
anyways check out these links to some designers who i picked out because i've seen a few people saying that dubstep only goes for the minimal typographic style or rubbish dnb look so i picked three dudes (well two dudes and a lady) who have a really vibrant and colourful style.

www.bruno9li.com - you can see his illustrations on Jamie Vexd - In System Travel EP
www.katemoross.com - you can see her work on Zomby - One Foot Ahead Of The Other EP
http://el-neoray.be/ - you can see his work on the Brainmath releases.

enjoy

Yeah its a satellite view of Highbury, as it was called Highbury dub. A combination of filters, effects and masks to get the dark and grainy image that I felt reflected the sound he was coming with. There are examples of other concepts on the Lethem blog I believe... http://lethemdub.blogspot.com/ (scroll down a ways to view it, 26th Sept. Conept Art)
