Its an injustice - not my fault - Cornish should be taught in schools in Cornwall just as Welsh people learn Welsh.tr0tsky wrote: You speak English (and I bet you know fuck-all Cornish)
There's fewer than 100 fluent Cornish speakers. Fucked if I could learn it even if I really wanted to, but that's not the point.
We have no choice! We have to represent ourselves some way, and we can't very well start our own currency without our own government, can we?tr0tsky wrote: Your MP's sit in Westminster
You use pound sterling
Nobody ever has, or probably ever will try to invade Cornwall. There's fuck all left to invade! No warships down here. Some get repaired in Falmouth; but the proper Navy crew - you're thinking of Plymouth which is in Devon.tr0tsky wrote:You're dependent on 'English' warships and planes for your 'defence'
Again, no choice. We can't change our education or economic structure without our own government, can we? Cornwall is, historically, on paper, separate to England. You can't dispute that - its 100% true!tr0tsky wrote:You study for GCSE's and A-Levels (or in your case, GNVQ)
Your bank account is based in the Gherkin.
Cornwall makes BARE (that's London speak) money from leisure and tourism. We could easily support ourselves year-round from our summer tourism takings, but instead we basically have our money robbed by the English government who rarely put it back into our local economy sensibly.
A year or two ago (probably still happening in fact) the government spent more on advertising Cornwall as a holiday destination for up cuntry and foreign people, than they did on building affordable housing for local people. Most young Cornish people have to move away because a £150,000 mortage on some of the lowest wages in the country just ain't happening. Tell me that isn't fucked up.
Didn't mean to hijack the London thread, but the Cornish haters can fuck RIGHT off...down a disused mine. Truth is there's bugger-all left of our Cornish identity after all these years of having it watered down and losing all our local industry, forcing many to move away, but we were once BADMAN, and you'll find true Cornish patriotism runs much deeper than that of the English!
The fine Cornish town of Camborne went from super-super-super-rich mining town to the home of sexual-manure-fetishes in a relatively short space of time.
