Best Synth for FX and 80's Sounds?

Post by adam_misst » Wed Dec 09, 2009 9:53 pm

I'm looking for a synth for under £350 that is great for producing FX on and also that has some of those retro synth sounds from the 80's... any advice?
Cheers

You're looking for FM synthesis.
You can get NI FM8 for that price (+ the whole Komplete bundle).

Mhh well if you wanna go for hardware the cheapest one would be a yamaha dx7 ( the tx is the rack model i tink or some of the newer one in the series), but the dx 7 is the most used digital synth in the 80s. For analogue sound , so lesser fx possibilities in that pricerange, i would recomand a Roland JX-3P. It has midi and is used usualy cheaper than the junos ( wich not all have midi inbuilt). You could get a JX-3P with the programmer unit for the same price i guess.
Theres a nice hybrid synth that i like too, its the ensoniq sq80, i still looking for this on ebay just missed it for 180 euro siome time ago :( . If you wanna try that theres a free vst emulation of it do the 80s sound nicely, its been my favourite free one for years + it can load all te orignal banks (sysex too)that you can get on the net .
