What did u listen to before Dubstep???

Into Dark Garage / Breakbeat (Nuskool breaks) / Grime since I was 12/13.

When I was really young all i can remember is grandmasterflash and desmond decker.
later years of primary school was offspring/sum 41
Then Hip Hop till I discovered Breaks/Garage and then Grime

Discovered Dubstep when I was just turning 14.

I'm now 17.

Ha thats so weird thinking I been into the same music all this time...

Directly b4 Dubstep i was into Grime but ................I grew up listening to hip hop,reggea, jungle and garage.

first tune i ever made was a garage sounding tune

order of what i listened to first

1. hip hop (atmosphere, sage francis, ludacris, etc...)

2. house music

3. minimal (listened for a good year+ still love it)

4. DNB

5. DUBSTEP!!!! (still remember the day.......first dubstep song i ever heard was haunted by digital mystikz!!)

surprised to see so many metalheads and very few IDM people.

used to listen to IDM, specifically aphex twin, almost exclusively. tossed in with a bit of modeselektor, some minimal techno, stuff like that.

had skreamizm 1 and 2 for a bit and wasn't really aware of what dubstep was until i came upon Watch the Ride. that album changed my life.

then 90's/early 00's garage
then breakstep & drum n bass
then was massively into bassline when it was first developing, but then everything got the same n boring when funky started up
now dubstep, but still love my old skool garage, classic hiphop, n dont mind bit of grime every now and then
