I guess its just down to taste though. These jump up tunes that people slag off I really enjoy. The scene has become divided Deep vs Filth pretty much, I like both styles and I think there is room for both. One of the reasons people who like deep are against filth more than the other way around is more nights are jump up rather than deeper and this angers peeps.

I don't post on this forum but I visit it frequently for new tunes, videos, mixes, and just to see whats going on in the Dubstep scene and the majority you guys are a bunch of downers. About 80% of the threads I open are nothing but complaining. If you are so fed up with the dubstep scene why even both posting on this bored? So much negativity about a genre you all claim to LOVE . Shut the fuck up start producing and DJing if you are so upset about it.

It's the internet. Generally speaking, all boards are like this. Constant droning about dissapointments, and how shite things are, how such and such is ruining the scene and how someone else is a wanker. It's just the internet man.

This place is great for information, finding new tunes and finding some savage fucking producers. It's also a hive for wankers. But, another rule of message boards kicks in, the vast majority of people who post here are good folk who love their dubs, the hive of wankers is just quite vocal...and sometimes overbearing because negativity is a bit louder than positivity.

It's always just the way it happens man.

I don't think the "you people" thing is fair, because it's tarring 90% of the population here with the same sticky colour as the 10% that has probably pissed you off.

Hey thanks, that was pretty educational actually... Its interesting to note all the similarities that these tracks share. Straightforward riddims, hard, blippy midrange wobbles with lots of near-squelch atonality, in-your-face snares, and frequently some sort of "sexy" vocals.

I would say they are all tracks with "something to prove," like the producers sat down before the beginning of their respective sessions and said, "OK, I want to make the hardest, darkest wobble tune I possibly can." Would I again be making a stretch if I said most of these tracks might fall into the "brostep" category, for better or for worse?

I just heard that Rusko Cherry Chapstick remix for the first time, and while I didn't like it, it is a 10-fold improvement on the original song, which is a certifiable piece of retardation (meaning, it will make you a stupider person if you listen to it repeatedly).

I actually liked the Dizzee Rascal track, very progressive, lots of different stuff happening throughout. And then of course you've got to like "Where's My Money," at least the first few times you heard it, anyway...

but the whole vibe of his tunes annoy me...obvious samples...obvious drum...it's all so obvious...

i shouldn't be able to look at the track title of a producers tune and know the obvious sample he's used but this is the case for most datsik tunes...

and people rave about his production skills as well...i dunno i think caspa is better tbh...that bass sounds cack imho

i do like some harder aggy stuff but not like that.....sounds cheesy

I AM GENUINE MOTHA FUCKA! I buy tunes that I LIKE. I play tunes that I LIKE. I don't follow top 40 and what I hear the most on in BBC essential mixes. I'm aware of the midrange bass wobble craze and I figured it was what the majority are complaning out, and I can agree on all of that. However I had posted up several tunes on the first page and I was criticized for posing "bangers". I was just trying to get a feel for everyone's opinion. I wanted to get both sides of the story so that I'm not being biased. I don't need to be told whats shitty, as stated above when it comes to my personal opinion I will go by just that.

and as I asked above I will ask again... Have any of you considered how DNB started off, and the wide variety that is now being played? Look at how many "bros" get down to artists such as Noisia, Dara, AK1200. Then when I consider good DNB I look at artists such as B-Complex, Sub Focus, and Blu Mar Ten. There are sub-genres of genres, and since dubstep is just taking off its going to take some time for things to get sorted out.

that's because we're critics. that's what we do. we have the time and we don't expect to get paid, so really being critical about the critics is a bit hypocritical, doncha think?

this isn't just for people who just _like_ dubstep, its also for people who are _into_ dubstep and are into music in general. we have developed tastes and the freedom of speech.

besides, this is a forum. most forums are occupied by day-laborers and students who don't really like their jobs and need an outlet to circumvent bitching about everyday problems. for me the more interesting threads are the controversial ones and the ones where some major ideas are being debated.

to get too deep, animals in general are a pissy kingdom. we need to be unsettled and upset because our pacificity might mean extinction when things change beyond our control. if you're too comfortable in your present surroundings it becomes harder to change when necessary. thusly, pissiness is a genetic trait billions of years in the making.

pretending everything is hunky-dory all the time is selling people a false reality.

quick glance of the main forum seems like more than 75% of everything posted is advertising. not sure what is more disturbing.

It took a while for it to get that way though, and a for a hell of a long time, as long as, (if not longer than!) Dubstep has even been around if you can imagine that you have to understand that pretty much the only stuff that was getting played by anyone with a rep was rhythmically dumbed-down midrange jumpup gash.

True story - 98 to 2005, pretty much... And the big raves still book pretty much the same ten names playing the exact same jumpup midrangey gash that they were pushing back then... I ended up buying the odd bit of Dubstep after hearing the Horsepower stuff and then (much, much later) signing up on Dubstepforum after getting *enormously* excited about the fact that there was so much more good stuff that was smashing dancefloors that WASN'T horrid Asbo-step shite and the fact that the crowds and DJ's seemed to be so open minded about new sounds, new textures and tunes that were sparse, rhythmical and had ten tonnes of sub bass in them... Although the more i reread your post the more i begin to think that you quite possibly mightn't know as much about how DnB started off as you seem to think you do...

So don't think it can't happen to Dubstep..

What "saved" DnB was the fact that the internet got big, subgenres developed their own infrastructure, and Dubstep reawakened people to the beauty of dynamics and sub weight, which are things that Dubstep seems to be in danger of forgetting already...

Plenty of great records around though, and all of them will be bought, enjoyed, and played to drunken people, 95% of whom would never even DREAM about posting on a Dubstep message board, even if they knew there was one!

I always play my sets like that and it always works well whatever sort of crowd there is but I've yet to play a Caspa or Rusko tune and 99% of jumpup I hear I think isn't worth playing thats why most of the bangers I play I've written myself.

Windscreen Sniper and Bloodbath have been played by Headhunter and Cyrus has played Casino and Arcade - I doubt those DJs would be playing those tunes if they were your average spazzy albino rinseout.

I'm not saying ppl who aren't into that sound are going to like what I write but ppl who have actually listened to what ive put out and heard it in a club not on shitty computer speakers will know the difference
