Cubase 5.1 and timestreching
I've recently moved from FL studio onto Cubase.
One thing thats really bugging me is the way its dealing with acidized loops & timestreching.
In FL studio it had no problem recognising tempos and playing the samples back at the desired rate, however cubase is seeming to lose loads of quality if you slow a loop down signifcantly.
Its also dropping them onto the arrange page without timestreching to the bars sometimes, or when it drops them onto the page and it looks like its timestreched they are still completely out of time.
I'm 100% this is nothing to do with latency etc.
tl:dr - Why is cubase so fucking wierd when it comes to timestreching? Does it sound like im doing something wrong?

Ok, i think its something to do with the pitch altering... FLstudio automatically pitches it down.
Is there anyway i can get cubase to do this?

Re: Cubase 5.1 and timestreching
turn off the little yellow-ish musical note
get the original tempo, then the destination tempo

there you go
once you work all that out, the time streching is dope

Re: Cubase 5.1 and timestreching
Cheers bro that seems to have fixed the tempo however what FLstudio does is automatically change the pitch of the samples according to tempo, or if you change tempo up or down.
So for example, ive dropped a 125 sample and the tempo is set at 70bpm the fl studio one sounds normal speed and of a lower pitch than the cubase one which is sounding like its obviously been slowed down, ie really grainy.
Does cubase not support acidized loops? I know its autodetecting tempos but its in a world of its own!

Re: Cubase 5.1 and timestreching
Anyone know why it does this?
Re: Cubase 5.1 and timestreching
yeah man,
I have no clue why it cannot make out the tempo of acidized loops
I always turn that off cuz like you said... it's in a world of it's own
there is a way to turn off the Key Correction because that is why it isn't chipmonking or Barry Whiteing your file
I'm at work and I am going off the top of the dome here, but look for something in the actual time streching window
perhaps switch algorhythms
good luck

This.perhaps switch algorhythms
I had the same problem when first applying a timestretch in Cubase.
Changing algorithm should get rid of the 'grainy' sound.
The little musical note (the yellow one when activated) in the timewarp tab will detect the tempo of your track as best it can... though there are other tempo match methods, as above.
I've found that fiddling with the algorithms is pretty much the best way to smooth out the sound.
