Re: motor city drum ensemble
raw cuts 3 still the best 4 me
Re: motor city drum ensemble
Coincidentally I listened properly to this for the first time last night on Benji B's show. I own Raw Cuts 3 and 4. I can't get enough of that rhodesy melancholic vibe.

Re: motor city drum ensemble
All about the raw cuts stuff. 6 is my favourite but heard some good other bits which are supposedly coming as part of the series.
If you like the MCDE, I'd really recommend the Inverse Cinematics stuff people are chatting about as well. His earlier work (think his first release as IC was when he was 16!) is much more broken beat with a clear jazz musical sensibility- drawing on samples from Charles Mingus and the likes- but it is so impressive in terms of production level. Gilles Peterson was proper championing this strand of his sound a few years back but with MCDE his house moniker, he has really exploded, and rightly so. Massive talent. Some good IC tracks - Dem!, Passin Through, Sundrops, Interplanatary Motivations, Detroit Jazzin'
This remix for 2020 he did recently is beautiful; really hypnotic moody melody:

And the DJ T remix which has been cained in clubs this year:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edotpw20j2o
He's also got a very nice rework of Steve Bug's 'Strong Moment' from his Collaboratory album coming.
I did an interview with him a month or so ago which is here:

Fat City are on fire atm! Great news about getting MCDE on board. Linkwood and Trusme new LPs are getting a lot of airplay right about now.

I loved the track he just put out on the "quintessentials" (spelling) label, other than that, am pretty clueless, definitely gonna explore though!
