Easy way to share loops.

Post by Assassin » Tue Dec 29, 2009 5:39 pm

I remembered everyone talking about A mass collaboration. I also noticed peoples confusion about Internet collaboration in general. I mentioned it to my mate and he reckons he could knock a site up for just that purpose.

I think it's a pretty good idea. Anyone else?

It'd be a free subscription with absolutely no catches.

If it was a 'free for all' website where you can upload loops and samples for everyone to use, then i would be against it as i'm not too keen on that stuff.

However, if you could set up a 'project' account with a password etc. that only the collaborators can get their mits on, i reckon it'd be a great idea. Can include a place to upload the loops, previews, the ability to write notes to each other to see when they log in. You could also use it to advertise to potential collaborators.

Could really work well as the second idea, imo.

Any requests would be great. We're just at the drawing board. I think we'll give users a choice between open source and private.

The idea is just to be able to share ideas and mixes easily at this stage.

He says he can put the tracks altogether for a good collaboration view so you can see the various parts. So it will be easy to download a section if you've deleted it by accident.

Has anyone got any other suggestions?

I've had a few but I'm glad someone pointed out a private section, it's definitely an idea to put in.

He just loves designing sites, so he loves the challenge. He's also going to allow streaming so you can listen to open samples and private ones before downloading, just for ease of remembering which part is which.

I like it. Should be sorted for it in a few days, although it won't look dashing it'll work.

I should expect visuals will be updated soon after but everything will work.

Do you think a forum would be a good idea? Maybe to talk about potential collabs etc?

loving this idea, would solve alot of problems.

dont know if it would be worth having a file size limit though, otherwise you might have people trying to host 90MB wav files on your site or larger files.

What limit would you recommend?

90MB is quite small for a collab. Mine and Bluepatternsounds has got to 468MB and its zipped...

The forum will be subdivided by genre and for general discussion. Also we plan to implement a chat bar into the website to enable people to collaborate easily with others. As for the bandwidth, we will start off small and build it up as we go along.

Any more ideas?

Would anyone like it sectioned for DAWs in the forum?

I was thinking for Reason users especially as they'll find it hard to share files in wav format.
