The official DSF Competition web page is now being hosted on Soundcloud. From here on all winners will send their tracks to me for upload simply to avoid extended deadlines and other complications. The tracks submitted are sounding wonderful a lot of 2-step and down-tempo Dubs, great work everyone.
Aw I didn't notice this as I just posted my anticipation in the original thread. So I've gone and PM'd Sharmaji and asked him to sticky this and de-sticky the original thread
I'll check the tunes out in a lil' while and get my voting finger thimbles on
Lots of great ideas in this one : ) Different flavours and, as it is most of the time, it was rather difficult to choose between a few really solid tracks with good ideas, flow and production. But I got there
Well done all! I'll try come back with a tune when it's the next one ^_^
Almost one third as many listeners for the last track as the first? Weak. Hope these numbers even out by the end. This right here is why a randomized playlist would be good.
And no, not saying this 'cuz my track's down at the end. Didn't enter this time around.
Also, although the old 3 minute rule might have seemed limiting, 4 minutes average track time for each entry (times twelve) makes objective listening more difficult - and the thing is, most of 'em didn't even NEED to be 4 minutes long! They're either unfinished or just repeat the same part over and over. WTF?

OK, so on to the tunes. Doesn't seem to be as much stylistic variety as before but overall quality of production sounds a little better than previous contests. A few sounded like different takes on the same song, such that you could probably edit them into one uber-tune that'd blow your mind, but individually... not so much. In the end I like the vibe on #8 the best, so... yeah.

I noticed the play difference between first and later tracks too. Very interesting to see these kind of stats. Are they accurate?? i don't see them updating after i listen a track.
Anyway, to compensate i'm starting at the bottom
and cheers for Haack for putting the soundcloud up!

Yea it sucks does that
They should all be listened to atleast once before deciding on a favourite. Maybe it doesn't update them unless they're listened to all the way through? Because I listen to the tracks until I get the full feel of the track and then go to the next one, and sometimes that's not all the way through..
Oh, but I've just thought that voters, like myself, listen to them all and then their favourites again so they can whittle them down to a singular favourite.
Anyway - Agreed! Nice one HAAK for doing the duty of wapping them all up and such : )
Great tunes folks...Just had a listen through all of them at work....I am impressed with the mixing/master skills of everyone ...Ive been trying to write tunes at a lower volume...ala the mastering thread...but then it always comes out quieter in comparison to other tunes and I find myself reaching for the limiter...How do you guys do it? limiter/no limiter? raise the overall master volume at the end? Or do you do like I used to do and write the tune so all the elements don't go over 0 db and not fuss as much about what db each element sits at(I think i got better results that way )?
Super noob!! ^^^
Thanks dudes...can't wait for the next one...learning more every time
