Question about going Live

Post by Impact » Sat Jan 02, 2010 8:07 am

So, this probably has been asked a few times... but i wasn't able to find anything about this question, so if it already was out there (and i doubt it that it wassn't ) i'm sorry for asking again.

Alright, so a few people i know told me i should go play live in the region where i live....
but i was wondering on how to go live if you're just working with a DAW. (I use Renoise btw) nothing more and nothing less.
'Cause, of course you already made/composed/produced the song in your DAW, but what would you do live with it? if you have No hardware of any sorts (No mixers, no keyboards, no w/e)
What's there left to do? is hardware necessary to go live?

Thanks in advance for any USEFUL answers.

Reaktor 5 or Ableton or FL9 and a bunch of midi controllers.

Live mix the tunes on screen wth your mouse n a grid like a cheater and look real lame staring at a laptop??

You could also get a cheap midi mixer style controller, n go to town on the knobs...

Live pa makes a better accessory to djing then it does a solo thing... Ive seen some people make live PAs work really well, others make it boring, it dpends on who you are...

get creative man. its all just playin loops...

but id say your gonna be buying hardware before you play out, no matter what path you take.

are you looking to spend money, or are you trying to do this with what you have?

I've seen plenty of people just put a computer on stage and go. If the punters can't see the screen they have no idea what you're doing. as long as you sound great they won't care too much. its a good start.

if you want a nice new toy, i reccomend some kind of USB mixer or something with a few assignable faders and pots
and a copy of Live.
