MattyG wrote:Much love and thanks to everyone who voted for me...I'm blown away. It's been an interesting year, and I'm still a bit in shock of how much new stuff I've done this year. I've scratched a lot of stuff off my "need to do before I die" list because of this music, and people's possitive reception to my take on it. Much love to Nick Argon for giving me an outlet for my music. Much love to Whistla for being the first dj in the uk to play my tunes. Much love to everyone out there who has supported me in anyway, shape or form. Much respect.
Much love right back at you! thanks for all the dope beats Matty G. :)

Give thanks to the most high

Not sure where it comes from so I cant really take credit.

Personally... I have problems trying to compare music against music in this way... so i didnt vote. So many heavy dubz got played last year.
Big up and deepest respect to all peoples spreading the niceness, making deep sounds and getting lost in that zone.

2007 more peace more love.

dubstep for me is still very much a bitter sweet from what it is and what it could be... maybe i should start breakstepforum.com lol

What was done wrong about it? I sort of agree about the scene bit, but he made it very clear it was a forum based awards thing. He's not exactly misleading people.
I'm not sure there's a right way to do it to begin with. It's just dumb.

Everyone who was nominated ultimately deserved to be recognized in the end. But what you get in the end are results that are narrow and determined by a miniscule sample of "the scene".

I see nothing "done right" by putting such a select few on pedestals at the end of the year when there are so many who deserve recognition.

Consider as well that the opinions of 51% can override the opinions of 49% and there are no honorable mentions.

You know? We are all in this together, and I believe we are all for the most part equals (until a suspect popularity contest claims otherwise...)

I say let the music speak for itself and fuck the awards.
Poke a hole right through it.
The time spent organizing the awards would have better been spent compiling an all encompassing "2007 Dubstep Forum Guide to Dubstep".
That would benefit the scene as a whole, as there's a lot more to it than the "Top 3".

in my opinion, youngsta is def. no.1 dj, skream is def. no1 producer, and why isn't task on the best mcs list??? but still, respect to the winners and the losers

What's dumb about people having favourites? I don't understand. No one's claiming the award winners are objectively the best at what they do, it's just majority opinion. A bit of fun.

I'm down to help brainstorm it. Basically I would suggest using the master list of nominations as the basis. Ask artists to submit more detailed information or gather it ourselves - labels, affiliations, discography, press, audio clips, etc.

Make it a who's who in dubstep basically. Matter of maintaining updates on an annual basis, or ongoing. It might call for a small database driven website really. I will look into this.

Who's in?

There is a demand for such a thing:
