Definately man. and its all good, i can't really expect everyone to like it... no matter what people have different taste and thats totally understandable! it just sucks that instead of doing something about it (eg. making their own music that THEY like) they have to come on here and bash other artists for what their doing..

For example.. If you feel that tear out is dominating the dubstep scene now, then go out and support the artists (or buy the tunes of artists who aren't producing tearout!) thats the only way they are going to get more recognition for the music YOU truely like!!

I mean yes, there are tunes i don't like, but I'm not complaining about it you know? Instead ill just listen to something else, ez as that! :e:
Summed it up perfectly.

chronicrecords wrote:this probly because im a chav, but i personally feel the wobble midrange stuff is alot more unique in its style and sound. alot of the medi stuff just sounds like downtempo or ambient techno, its not really new and exciting. at least to me.

i would also go ahead and say the reason dubstep has become so popular is because of the tearout midrange wobble,(or hard melody driven tracks like joker) and not because of the deep medi tracks.

though the deep medi tracks do have their time as listening to wobble tearout for hours straight loses momentum, i still feel the reason people get so excited and amazed by this genre and say things lik
"WHAT IS THIS SOUND" "WHAT KIND OF MUSIC IS THIS" its almost always for the midrange wobble.

peace
Fair enough if you don't like medi shit, but dont saying its boring and unoriginal. tearout drum and bass has been going on for time. all tearout/brostep consits mainly of; changing the midi clock from 180bpm to 140bpm then wacking a snare on the 3rd beat of the bar and putting a sample in from a shitty british gansta film.

also explain to me how for instance the dmz release catalogue is unoriginal and sounds like 'ambient techno'. may not be exciting for you, which you explain is because you are a chav, but it is original. and fucking good in my opinion

just because more people like it and get 'amazed' by it doesn't mean its original and any good

"Dubstep is better than it's ever been"

OH YEAH?
how come I only found eight 12"s I want which I don't already own in the 20 pages of Chemical's dubstep releases?
That's fewer than 0.5 good new releases per page.

if you're getting 320 mail-outs from Mala and El-B then yeah, dubstep is better than its ever been. for everybody else playing straight vinyl who can't cut dubs every week - dubstep could be better.

looking forward to Nu Levels though :)

I don't have time to read through all this bullshit, but vinyl is for some, CDJ's are for others and Serato as well... Get your sound out, be someone who actually MIXES, whatever format it may be, and keep your computer programming at home...

my .02

And I agree with Bokator on his last sentence...

My research shows that Dubstep is currently and always will be going through exponential growth until the day we all jump on the funky bandwagon. The more people who become involved with the sound equals more music being produced.

However, what I dislike about the current situation is the fact digital saturates the market. Anyone can put out any shit tune for any price and people will buy it.

I'll stick to vinyl thanks.

Fuck you datsik, excsion, borgore, cookie monsta and any other ten for a penny producers that make absolute shite.
i don't necessarily agree with the fuck you part. but i do agree that more people need to put out vinyl.
i get that the new face of the music industry is the digital format, and that's cool. but i've always been a fan of having the tangible audio.
hard drives crash, itunes won't let you move stuff to other libraries, etc etc. vinly, if taken care of, is there.
and, no, i don't dj cds so i'm not a fan of buying the cd. i'll pay for your digital download through your label, but if you put it on vinyl, i'll make a digital of it.

Bravo!!

I vote this thread Best Thread In A Short While.

For the record, I agree that Dubstep is better than its ever been because music production technology is better and more accessible than its ever been. Music in general is better than its ever been, from a production standpoint. And Dubstep is heavily production-based so its really got a lot more room to expand in the future.

I was freaking blown away by the kinds of sounds I heard in 2009. Yes, there's a lot of crap too, but as has been pointed out, its a "glass half-full or half-empty" kind of thing.

Dubstep will continue to get better until it is replaced by something new that is also good.

dunno how people get so uptight about this stuff. I like complicated weird music, and I can't stand, say, Rusko- but that's my opinion, and I don't have a problem with the fact he exists and that other people like him. If it makes people happy who cares? music is awesome.

I used to listen to the hard tearout stuff all the time, now like alot of you Im getting sick of the same sounds and formulas over and over again. Its like I used to watch CSI alot but then I got bored at it being pretty much the same episode over and over.

Variety can only be good, I wanna see tearout producers try making some deep or some deep producers make some hard wobble, each would bring there sounds to a differnt style and make something interesting.

and to Datsik. You should try making some DNB, i could see it being really good. My fave track by you is southpaw and its totally original. Nice to hear your trying new things
