How organised is your production library?

Mine is a fucking wreck. Samples all over the place and all that. The main problem with this is that reason doesn't localise samples - so now that i've moved my libraries around a bit, a ton of my .rns files are caput. Blows. How bout youz?

mine used to be the same but that was when i didnt know you could self contain samples into the .rns
still pretty unorganised still though, need to have a bit of a tidy up soon

Same here, theres countless folders but I know where to go when I want to find something. I have them seperated pretty well by source, and then seperated more after that. I've tried to use a few sample organizing programs, but I always forget and just find what i'm looking for myself. As far as projects themselves go, I have them saved pretty well with all the resources. The sizes get pretty big, but hard drives are so cheap and big these days, it doesn't really matter.

i dunno mine are quite well organised, and since i actually made the effort to move them all around it makes finding suitable samples much easier

i have also been systematically labeling them, so when you open the mediabay in cubase, you can select certain parameters and it only brings up samples that fit those search parameters

makes finding samples sooo much easier

Yep. Me too...........

Its split very roughly into Drums, instrumentation, vocals, loops, sound FX etc.

I try and keep it organised but, to be honest, I dont have the time or the inclination.... Its nice coming across some nice samples that are buried so deeply on your hard drive that you forgot you even had them. Kinda like discovering them all over again

Its weird because I am so organised and methodical about all other aspects of my life, but my sample library is left to grow and mutate at its leisure. I like to call my filing system "organic"

not organised at all really. Folders for snare kicks hats, my presets, my drum loops, weird sounds i've made (a great idea this), samples, recorded stuff... how else?

Samples are in the sample folder. That is quite big but 80% of it is shit and I do not use. I have my drums that I use and only venture away from them when I need fills.

i create a new folder every year and transfer the stuff i used the most last year into the new one and cut back on old shizzle i dont use ... keeps it tidy and up to date

Once a while a throw unused bits away. And I always put the samples in the corresponding folder when downloaded and listened to. I did not do this for the first 2 years of producing, it becomes a mess real quick.

I used to organize it meticulously but I found that I organized it so intricately that I had to click 20 different folders to find a sample and that sucks when you're just trying to Scroll through a bunch and see what's up.

i have one main folder for all my productions, one main folder for all my loops/one hits, one main folder with a bunch of random midi

besides the drumracks full of one hits that i make and my saved presets for my vsts, its a complete disaster
