In the year I was president of the Stop The War society at University for our first meeting/event after freshers fayre we had Tony Benn come to speak. Fantastic it was.

Easily one of my proudest moments.

Definitely a true legend.

Here is a useless fact about the man for you. He got a plaque put up in St Mary's Chapel under Westminster Hall to commemorate the suffragettes who locked themselves in the broom cupboard under the Hall so that they could put on the census of the year that they were in the Houses of Parliament, an illegal act at the time.

Sorry, the Class War's Bash the Rich thing. He goes along to it and gives his support despite living in a several million pound house in North London with other property up and down the country. Don't get me wrong some of the stuff he has done as an MP has been brilliant but stuff like that irks me in the same way bono does telling us to make poverty history, it doesn't feel genuine and is actually quite counter-productive.
